Not literally and let me add there is nothing to be ashamed of if you are a redhead. It is just a figure of speech. There are three in my immediate family and I love every one of them although the 7 year old can be a real little wart at times.

On to the rifle, my 22 TCM that gets little to no mention anywhere. I shot it a week ago, didn't care for the scope I had installed, and switched scopes. Thursday I made it to the range early and had the place all to myself for quite sometime. Despite 12-15 mph wind out of the north which had been forecast as 5 mph out of the south I set up and got the scope on at 25 yards. By the time I was ready to go out to 100 yards the wind had shifted to the east directly behind me and died down to almost nothing. I got it zeroed at 100 yards and shot a few groups although my shaky pills were not quite doing their job. I managed a few groups ranging between 11/2-1 3/4" and gave up as the indian wasn't doing a good job with his arrows. I could plainly see the cross hairs moving around on the target and could do nothing about it.

Anyway I have some empties to experiment with reloads now. Also I am going to use another top on my rest to help with any twitches on my part and increase my medication some before the next trip. I am going to use 296 powder and Sierra and Hornady V-max 40 gr. bullets.

I like the stock on the rifle and the rifle as it was easy to set it up just like I wanted. The trigger is crisp with no take up,.no side to side wiggle, and just a tiny bit of over travel but it is five pounds of pull and that has to go.

I was on the verge of getting one, but came across my “grail gun” of the moment, a Marlin M1894CL IN .218Bee.
I’ve been a long time fan of the.22Hornet, and have a Ruger M77MkII KBZ in .22Hornet (tan laminate stock, gray coat Stainless 24” bbl.). With a number of .22cf’s I couldn’t bring myself to purchase the rifle given tepid reports from various gun writers.

I did buy 1,100 Armscor 40gr JHP FN bullets as used in the .22TCM factory ammo. They shoot quite well in my 1894CL .218Bee… At or under 1.5moa @100yds. With good shot placement they are death on deer!
Load was 13.1gr of Hod. LilGun, for 3,100fps under the 40gr Armscor seated and crimped to cannelure. I’ve since dropped the charge to 12.5 as it’s more accurate. I bought the bullets for $46.00/1000. Still have got most.

I’m rather fond of redheads to. I married a strawberry blonde 44yrs ago…
