Just purchased my first AK (an M70AB2 put together by Century... I'm actually quite impressed.)

Anyway, I was surprised at the prices of 7.62x39 AK mags... where is the best place to buy a small quantity (5-10)? They were $20+ at the last gun show. Found some Romanian 30rd at copesdist.com for $12 each. Looks to be the best deal right now.

$12 isn't bad at all. The word is that the stuff from Cope's is a definite "go." You missed out on the Sportsman's Guide "lotteries" last year. It was insane, something like 12 used magazines for $75 or so. Of course, they were cosmoline-soaked, and many well-used, but I only wound up with one that was ultimately useless.

anyone try the "Bulgarian" polymer "bullet" style?
polymer locking tab aside. anygood? steel lips right?

sportsmans guide, i also got a good deal on 40rd mags from natchezss.com they were $16 a piece if you bought 3 or more.

I bought a dozen of the 30 round Mags from Cope's. They are in much better shape that I expected and well worth the money. I also bought a few of those $3.99 E. German mag pouches that hold 4 30 round mags.

Not sure if they still have them, or if the price has changed. but CDNN was selling steel E.German surplus mag (unissued, still with some cosmo on/in them) for $9 a pop about 6 months ago or so.I bought 3, and all were 100% rust, dent, and scratch free, and dead on reliable.

The Bulgarian "bullets on the side" plastic mags are widely accepted as sucking.

Plastic Bulgarian waffle mags or original steel mags is the only way to go.

mine only came with one mage, but it is one of the Yugo mags with the bolt hold open feature. my fiancee got me a couple extra romanian steel mags for xmas. love that girl!:D

Ditto on CDNN. I got a couple not too long ago, looked new,for around $12 or so. They also still have east-block 40 rounders for around $20,i think.
Lately, everytime i order something from Sportsmansguide, i toss in another bulgarian polymer for about $20,no shipping that way.

I have 4 of the Bulgarian Bullet Mags and they work 100% in my AKM. I have 4 of the Bulgarina Waffle Mags they also work 100% in my AKM. I have a few of the cheap steel mags from ??? and they work 100% in my AKM. There's a little bit of a trend here!

I havent checked lately, but last fall I got some cosmoline soaked, commie-manufactured 30 round mags for $15 each, which I thought was ok. I think they are East German, but not totally sure.
