Romanian AK price check, not a Century junk WASR either

Point is: the big hooraw is the output of a very very very small number of actual people, all inflated way-the-****-out-of-proportion.

So the fact that I got such a bad WASR, as my very first exposure to the AK platform is just extremely bad luck? And the fact that nearly everything I can find about the Century WASRs is bad is just because the only people that post have bad things to say?

I'm not trying to argue, as I say this is my first exposure to anything AK related, but I've owned LOTS of guns over the years and this is bad to a level that I never thought possible before.

That can't be chalked up to just coincidence. Truly, this rifle is absolutely horrible. I can't think of many sellers that would let something like this leave their inventory and then send it back saying "it's within our accepted tolerances".

As I say, I'm still looking for a "good" AK which is why I read all these threads but the Century WASRs don't seem like something to defend so why do it?

The rifle has been back to Century once and returned in exactly the same condition in which it left me.

Hard to blame the Internet for that.

That, and the fact that the WASR is imported in such huge numbers, there are proportionally more "bad 'uns" out there.

I don't consider "sight cant" or "trigger slap" to be 'bad', as those problems can be fixed w/o a trip back to the importer.

You just got 'lucky' and got a barrel that was leaning toward the "FAIL" end of the PASS/FAIL QC check without crossing it.

I wish you lived closer, I'd let you take my WASRs out and shoot 'em.

i had a wasr 3 that was junk, first time i shot it the thing gave me a three round birst then refused to chamber the next round. did the smart thing and traded it for two sks's, ive had no problems with my wasr 10 though.

Do you have any experience with a recent WASR? They're not what I would call "crappy".

I have experience with the Romanian SAR's and I would call them crappy, so I can imagine what the WASR is like. My SAR worked, but shot all over the place and the sights were a joke, the finish and stock was not much better. I remember when the WASR's first came out when the SAR's were abundant, everyone avoided the WASR's like the plague.

I don't know how they make the WASR's now, but when they came out, they were basically single stack SAR's that had the mag well cut out to accept double stack mags.
