Guys,

I currently have 2 guns:

1) Walther P99 (9mm), black finish
2) Sig Sauer 229 (9mm), stainless in Nitron finish

Since both guns are in black, I can't carry them much cuz the finish wears off easily with the holster wear. So I am looking on the Stainless Steel finish. But here's my wish list, which you guys think I should get?

So get a lined holster....seriously, the full size Sig and Beretta Stainless look pretty but will both carry a little on the heavy side, and are a little too heavy for 9mm (strictly MHO).

Of the three you mentioned, I'd probably opt for the XD-9 for carry, but I would actually prefer my own Sig P228 carry gun. Incidently, my Uncle Mikes Old World pancake holster is unlined, which hasn't proven to be a problem with finish wear.

Holsters and gun finish wear

When you mean 'lined' holsters, do you mean the ones made by nylon? Yah, the main reason I was looking for Stainless Steel guns is that they don't suffer from wear since its stainless steel and not painted.

The holsters I use are IWB holsters which are made of 'soft' leather. And I know how black guns suffer from wear easily.

I have the Texas Heritage (not the plus) with the leather rough out and holster wear is minimal on my parked Springfield 1911. These are great holsters and I would and do recommend them to anyone. His belts are good too!

I won't vote because you have three totally different animals there. I mean, if you want more consistent manual of arms, then the 226 is for you (you have a 229, right?). The Beretta is way different, as is the XD.

Now, if you decide to get a Texas Heritage for that 229...take a look see on the sale board as there is a like new one for $60. :p

:D 13, 13 and 11 votes now - not much help are we?

SIGs have good reputations, but I think they are butt ugly.

I've owned a Beretta 92 FS and it was a great gun - no problems at all shooting many thousands of rounds.

I don't know much about the XD other that it's at least partially patterend after the Glock and also pretty homely in my eyes.

Based on the comments from other shooters in this forum, you probably can't go wrong.

If you haven't shot each of these guns, simply see which one you like best. Most decent ranges should have each of these models to rent. If you do this, make sure you are comparing apples to apples. Many range guns are neglected and/or abused. Don't compare a clean, maintained SIG to a filthy, neglected Beretta or XD.

Good luck!
