Ok, to start off, i am in the finishing phases of the law enforcement acadamy for corrections officers. i had never been big into guns, but my weapons training changed all that . I have been "shopping around" for the past few weeks for my own firearm. i plan on C.C. and so far i have narrowed it down to the Sig 229, and the Walther P99. I was leaning more towards the walther, simply because i do like the feel, mag release, and decocker "button" slightly more. HOWVER after reading MANY posts on here about the P99, im not so sure. my first question is there really any difference, between the Walther and the S&W version? if so which is known to be superior. ive actually heard that since the merge between the two, both are crap and i should go with an older all german model? I really do like the P99 but if the Sig is that much better, im going with it. Please give me any feedback that you may have on this topic, it would be much appreciated.

Let me be the first one to tell you to buy another type of firearm ( I am just warming you up because you will probably hear this quite a bit :) )
Not sure about the Walther but when I went through LEO Academy the Sig was the most popular handgun for the class. I actually didn't use a Sig but that doesn't matter as you didn't ask about the type I used. Sigs are very very popular for good reason and I do not think you can go wrong with one. IMO, they are like a Glock. People who have to use handguns quite a bit for their profession seem to like these 2 brands a lot.
