I don't expect my AR pistol to have any long range accuracy out of a 10.5" barrel, and I was planning to use a RDS with no irons.

However, I have some Magpul BUIS coming in desert tan for my desert tan colored AR, so I'll have a set of crappy UTG BUIS spare.

While I'm waiting for funds to get a decent RDS for the pistol, I'll probably wind up tossing the old irons from my rifle on.

Here's the kicker, I'm using a low profile gas block with no rail to mount the front sight, so it'll have to mount on the front of the receiver rail, putting only a few inches between front and rear sights. It's gonna look dumb, probably, but has anyone else done this? How does the short sight radius effect accuracy?

My hand guard is a free float smooth tube with no rails or keyholes or anyway to attach accessories.

I have HK SL8 sights on the top rail of my PS90 tri-rail. The sight radius is very short, sub five inches. I have only shot out to 35 yards and have been able to keep multiple shots into three inches. I would guess minute of chest at 100. I anticipate it will get better with practice.

Better than I expected.
So as a stop gap to test fire and function check, short radiused sights will work until I get my optic. Just have to find a way to deal with the goofy looks.

It was also better than I expected. The iron sight problem has been one that I have tried several remedies to cure. The goal now is to find a micro red dot on a quick detach mount that will fit in between. As to the looks I have no issues as it seems to fit the gun well. I had to reverse the rear sight to gain nearly an inch more radius.

Don't nearly all pistol shave a short sight radius? Is there reason to believe it will be any different than any other pistol?
