shot a Kimber today and was shocked...at how good it was.

I've been hearing a number of great things about Kimber lately.

Really, how long does it take for a manufacturer to turn around a reputation? How many years have we been on the "kick Kimber" down cycle? 6? 8?

Kimber has weathered the rapid expansion QC problems and external extractor fiasco. Now it's time to give them a rest.

I have a Ultra carry II and a Pro carry II both have never had a failure to date.
I left their triggers stock as they are carry guns the ultra is a 4.5 and the pro is
5lbs a little heavy but they break clean.there not comp pistols.

recently shot a friends new Kimber Eclipse with the 3" barrel.
VERY nice piece. It did foul a few times, but it was BRAND new.

It was a real tack driver for me. very nice trigger, very good/comfortable grip.

Not a huge fan of the 3" (I would opt for the 4") but this was a really nice piece. I was impressed.

The one Kimber I owned had the best trigger of any 1911 I've owned (I've owned 3 Colts). It was also the most accurate. First 1911 I owned that didn't have the slide-frame rattle.

Threads like this make me wonder. How many have actually broken a glass rod?

I've had a couple of Kimbers, a Pro Carry II and a Royal II. They shot fine, but my Nighthawk shot groups half the size. I also hate the Swartz firing pin safety system and would never buy another gun with it.

My Ultra Raptor II is a good pistol. Trigger is slightly better than with my RIA compact (after free factory trigger work), accuracy about the same. Not worth the price difference to me, but the gun has been flawless once I fixed the front sight (which was the wrong height from the factory.)

I keep it because the lightweight frame makes it a good carry option and it is a reliable pistol. I won't buy another one because I wasn't happy with their customer service.

I have 2 of the "Custom" Crimson Carrys and love them both. Sold a Stainless Target to fund other guns and the guy i sold it to thanked me for giving him the opportunity to own one....says a lot to me about how desired they really are.
