At the gunstore today. Is that a good price? I held it and it is very nice - trigger was light and crisp.

They also have a NEW Kimber Custom for $629. These prices do not include tax.

The only 1911 I have is a Norinco, and it is a good shooter, but does not compare with the Kimber side-by-side.

So, for around $600 I can get one of these Kimber Customs. But is there another 1911 in this price range that might be better?

Depends on how used the $599 one is. May as well just buy the new one if it's only about $30 more.

I've got a Kimber Classic Custom and a Springfield Milspec.. the Springfield was somewhat cheaper but is still a fine gun if you're looking to pay a little less. Not quite as nice as the Kimber though. :)

$599 for a used Kimber seems a bit high to me. I guess it depends on how many rounds have been put through it and how the internals looked. If it was less than 100 rounds and looked like it was well maintained, I'd probably pick it up....but, for $30 more you get one you KNOW is brand spankin' new. Ahhhhh, flip a coin!

:D

The used one has probably been tweeked or sent back to the factory and now it's ready to shoot. (I can dream right?)

The new one is a crap shoot like any new piece of equipment.

Is the used gun a so-called Series I or are they both marked with a II on the slide?

Get the one you like the most. This time next year you won't miss $50 one way or the other.
