My daughter's boyfriend just bought one of these things, an economy 1911 called a "Fire Storm". I didn't say anything to him about it, but I was figurin' it was just another POS cheap 1911 that would need $100 worth of gunsmithing to feed hard ball. Well, we went to the range and I shot 200 grain lead SWC and factory 230 ball ammo though it without a hitch. It seemed to be mediocre accurate, lets say service grade. It shot to point of aim, but wasn't hitting that well. Now, I didn't sit down with it and shoot paper on sand bags, just plinking, so I'm not sure just HOW accurate, but it seemed probably in the four inches at 25 yards range and was regulated to hit POI with the ball ammo.

But, much to my surprise, other than a failure to lock back on the last round (could have been the magazine), the thing functioned flawlessly. It was a bone stock 1911A1 series 80 (the firing pin safety) parkerized as government issue, plain jane 1911. I was rather smitten with it.

Now, I googled "Fire Storm" and come up with "Fire Storm and "Llama Firestorm". I think it's not the Llama. It didn't have Llama on it anywhere. Not sure where it was made, didn't look that close. But, looks like Fire Storm makes other models, even some DA stuff. I don't know how I missed this model on the radar, but it's completely new to me.

Another thing that impressed me was the tightness of the slide and lockup on this gun. Usually service grade 1911s rattle like a kid's toy. This one was tight to the frame and slide lock up was tight, no detectable barrel play at the bushing. Nice, very nice, for a bargain 1911.

It was made by Llama, and since Llama has gone bankrupt (again) there won't be any more.

Firestorm was just a name applied to some pistols by the importer. The same importer handles (handled) both Bersa and Llama, and for some reason best known to them decided to add a separate line under the name "Firestorm." The Firestorm 1911s were Llamas, made in Spain, and the Firestorm DAs are Berdas, made in Argentina.

The DA's are BERSA Hawk spells as bad as I do. But 1911 type were Llama .
And like all Llama's some worked some didn't Factory Mags weren't the best. Get some good 1911 mags.

Now, was it, "cheap," or just, "inexpensive?" There is a MAJOR difference.

Hi-points are, "cheap." Kahrs are, "inexpensive."

Yeah, can't buy Khars here under $500. They are almost universally more expensive than Glocks in the Midwest.

Firestorm : Fabrinor Vitoria (Espana)

When Llama when Tango Uniform some of the staff did a production run for the importer in Ocean(side?) N.J. and the Firestorm came into being as a product.

Mine is a two tone and it was $279 and when I finally added Wilson Sights (which I can SEE) it turned out impressively accurate. The gunsmith who mounted the sites benched it on a rest and got all rounds in a 50 cent peice group.

It is a fine gun and has not betrayed me in several years

After cleaning the feed ramp, my Llama 1911 works flawless. Really dumb question. Is the 1911 supposed to throw the brass directly over your head? This isn't a problem unless I limp wrist it though.
