I was cleaning a llama especial .22 and this tiny piece fell out onto the floor. I think it goes where the rough edges are above the slide groves on the rear. Anyone familiar with 1911's or this brand care to chime in and give your thoughts on this piece...is it vital?

I have not shot it after cleaning but just got done shooting it several times before the cleaning. Slide moves freely. The piece does not seem to hold a part in or on. It does not lock into any piece of the upper area of the slide. Seems the slide may have barely rubbed on it as it moved back. Does not appear to be a slide stop either for recoil.

Just thought I would ask before I go shooting it again. Thanks for the info.

If pictures were sent, they did not come through and without them we can't help.

So sorry about that...here you go, I'll check that link when I get back...it's too pretty outside today!

That would be the front of your ejector that broke off...
If it is a standard 1911 setup, it is not an easy fix, as the new parts require fitting and notching for a roll pin for installation.

I'll try shooting it again as I don't think it's an ejector. I'll get on a pc later and circle the spot where it goes and upload that image.

That does look like the tip of the ejector.
In the picture, where this tip should be looks like a fresh break.
If it is, the ejector in the Llama .22 is part of the frame.
A gunsmith with some decent ability would have to cut out the
old ejector, make a new one and fit in into the frame where he cut out the
old one. It would probably cost more than buying a new gun, I'm afraid.
I wish I had better news.

As Larry said the ejector is a part of the frame, it can be rebuilt by welding a bit onto the end of the ejector. A competent gunsmith could then reshape to original.

The Llama Especial while externally similar to a 1911 is not the same. On a 1911 the ejector is not integral to the frame and is an inexpensive and easily replaceable part. Here it looks like it might be integral to the frame.

If we're looking at the right thing that is.

It has been a while, but I don't think the ejector on that Llama is part of the frame; I think it fits in just like the 1911. But I think the part is from the frame rail just at the slide stop hole; that rail breaks just as it does on the 1911, though the Llama metal is not as good and that kind of thing is more common.

If that is the case, the pistol will function OK; some makers of 1911 type guns just cut that hole all the way through the rail for ease of manufacture and seem to have no problem.

All, I took it out and shot it some yesterday and it seems to operate just as well. The few times it got jamed the extractor did not grab the spent shell. So I am thiking this blow back design will continue to work as pressure from the next round helps push the old she'll out. I may see if the broke ejector is removable like on full size 1911s but if not I guess I'll continue to use it as is. Thanks for all tjose who helped.
