SHOT DAY TWO: Kimber

This is the Kimberly Solo Carry. It's, well, designed for carry with tradeoffs made just for that purpose. It's available in 9mm only and will not be made available in .40 S&W -- this was a design decision as focusing solely on 9mm allowed for a smaller, lighter firearm.

The gun itself has no sharp edges on it. Three dot sights (didn't ask if they were tritium or not), six round magazine, ambidextrous safety and magazine release, safety feels normal this this 1911 shooter. The trigger is interesting in that it's a single action design with a very long and smooth trigger pull that feels like a DAO. The trigger pull is seven pounds but feels lighter. Eight round magazines will be available eventually.

MSRP is $725 with one magazine, and $25 for additional magazines.

You never know before you shoot it, but this seems quite compelling.

Disassembly took the salesperson about twenty seconds, and seemed to be only slightly more complex than taking down a Glock.

Racking the slide is a bit of a chore, and hopefully something we wouldn't have to do under pressure. The Solo Carry feels great, at least in my medium-small hand. The trigger pull is long and heavy enough that I would feel comfortable carrying the SC without the safety engaged.

This is the 84L Montana. Available in 30-06, .270, 280 Ackley Improved, and 25-06. Five pounds ten ounces. MSRP $1,312.

Now this one was pretty. The 8400 Caprivi. Eight pounds four ounces.

The Caprivi has flip up express sights that can be filed by the owner to regulate their specific load. It is absolutely one of the most beautiful firearms we've seen here.
