I took my Beretta 92 and my new Springfield Loaded to the range today. I was really impressed with the way the 1911 shoots- I found it much easier to hold steady than my 92- probably because of its extra weight in all the right places.
The first 50 rounds or so through the 1911 went way low and prertty much all over the place, I'm not sure if it was me or the gun- I was consistantly shooting the 92 to the right but at the right elevation. After that, the 1911 started shooting pretty much dead on, except for my tendancy to shoot to the right- I'm not sure of the cause of it, I think I'm gripping too tight with my right thumb or something, because when I relaxed my grip it went back to center. I was shooting Fiocchi FMJ's through both pistols, no failures of any kind to speak of.
When I ran low on ammo, I put the last 10 round mag from my 92 and two 7 rd mags of the 1911 into a 'Q' target at 15 yards. As you can see the 1911 seems to shoot more consistantly in my hands, at least today. I'm very happy with my purchase
