Hi all!

I finally got around to shooting my new Desert Eagle yesterday! I’ve had the beast since December, but haven’t had the chance to shoot it until yesterday.

DAMN, is that thing FUN to shoot!!! :D

The DE is a gun that I simply enjoy owning. Over the last few months I fondle it occasionally and have cleaned it twice or so, and it just puts a huge grin on my face every time I do.

Well, shooting it is even more fun!

It functioned flawlessly except for I think two times when it didn’t feed properly, but I’m 99% sure that was due to limpwristing on my part.

The recoil is surprisingly negligible. It is far more pleasant to shoot than my G27 in .40. The DE just gives you a big, rather gentle push. Very manageable gun. (Mine is a .44, BTW. I’m planning on getting the .50 barrel at some point.)

Overall, it is an incredible firearm. It truly is an extremely high-quality firearm, is instantly recognizable, and the cool factor is, IMO, off the scale. Add the fact that it’s a joy to shoot, and you have a damn fine firearm overall.

If you are considering purchasing one, definitely go for it!

One potential issue that I noticed is that the spent brass was a bit bulged. I started another thread on that here:

Otherwise, it was a blast, and there are lots of cool pics below! This first picture shows the target I used the first time I fired my Desert Eagle. I thought it was a very fitting way to break in a new gun. :D :D :D

Enjoy!

This is an action shot of me shooting. You can faintly see some muzzle blast.

Look at how happy that lady is to be getting shot at by a DE!

:D :D :D

The rangemaster said that a couple guys with a .50 DE were there shortly before I arrived.

This pic is of a .50 case on top of an unfired .44 round.

Cool....

Very cool. I handled one at the shop and simply thought "Too damn big for anything but fun". I bet the weight (it's over 4 pounds, right?) soaks up a lot of the recoil. Where did you get those pamphlets/posters?

As it states on them very clearly ;) from the "brady center to prevent handgun violence."

I got them for free from their website, both to waste some postage for them and because I was genuinely curious. Know thine enemy and all that...

Imagine my delight when I saw that they included a poster in there for me!

We just gotta teach you not to pick up hot .44Mag brass!

One would think I'd learn after the first, maybe second time, but noooooo, not me. :banghead:

:D :D :D

It was good to see you there, my friend. :)
