Shot my first match last weekend!

Wow. I had a great time. We have a small USPSA range here in my area. I have been out there with a friend to shoot at the range. But this last Saturday (April 12), I finally got to shoot my first match. It was great fun. I expected to feel intimidated by the 'big time' shooters. You know, the guys that are there every match with gear coming out their ears.

But, everyone was extremely helpful. A couple people showed me some of thier equipment. A couple helped me with hints on the stages. A couple showed me some secrets to paths to take one of the stages that I had to walk through.

I must admit, I am not an avid shooter. I wanted to start shooting more to improve my skills. I had so much fun. I haven't gotten the results yet. I was hoping to today. There were only thirteen shooters. I will post results when I get them.

Just wanted to say thanks to those of you that are like my locals. And to say, keep it up. You are an asset to the sport!
 
It is indeed fun. I had some of the same expectations you did my first time out. Like yourself, I found most to be friendly, down-to-earth folks with a passion for shooting, much like myself. It's tons of fun and for the most part, quite practical. Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for posting.
 
Good for you. The vast majority of folks you run into at a USPSA or IDPA will be the nicest, most helpful, people you will ever meet.

All new shooters start at the same place and when you're not a new shooter anymore you'll remember how you were helped and then......you'll probably want to help and encourage a new shooter or 10 somewhere down the line.
 
results are in. I didn't finish dead last. just next to it. But, imho, I didn't have any AD's or safety violations. RO never had to slap me silly. I had a great time. I learned some. I met some great people.

All summed up to a very successful day for me.

I can't wait for my next chance!
 
I think that you will find that most shooters are more than helpful. Glad you had a great experience. I'm sure you are hooked now!! :D

Good job!

There is nothing better than competition to create the same issues you would see in a real world confrontation.
