It's a nice day today so I went to the range to see what it would do. My dominant eye has responded very quickly to cataract surgery and I can now see pistol sights with no optical help at all. First off was some Winchester Super X HP that I haven't managed to find the bullet weight or related velocity of but I ran two mags thru the gun without a hiccup and accuracy was pretty good for a shaky old guy shooting off hand. I only have one box of this stuff and don't know if it's even made anymore. No matter, there is no 22 mag ammo to be had apparently. I switched to Winchester Dynapoint 45 gr. HP at 1550 fps and the gun won't cycle it. Fire a shot, rack the slide, and fire another shot is the way it went for two mags and accuracy stunk. Now I have 30 rounds of ammo that works left and 130 rounds that doesn't. I wish someone would offer a 17HMR barrel for the gun. I have a lot of that caliber.
When I got home I decided to switch out the grips with Hogue rubber grips which I have on all my 1911s as I don't particularly care for the way the factory grips feel on this gun. The screws are torx and one of them was stripped from the factory. I wound up hammering an allen bit into the hole and got the screw out. A set of Hogue grips and new screws are on the way. All I'll need is ammo.
