Not really where I wanna be
After a few days of feeling under the weather I finally made it to the range for the much anticipated maiden voyage of the 1927A1.

Here are my impressions:

First and foremost the rifle functioned flawlessly through 80 rounds. 25 factory rounds followed by 5 of my reloads were the first through the 30 round stick magazine....Perfect.....Then came the 50 round drum loaded with 25 factory rounds and 25 of the same reloads I shot in the stick mag....Once again perfect.

The rifle is extremely accurate. Although I only shot it at 25 yards it was impressive. When I rested it on a nearby beam all the shots were within an inch of each other. It was not difficult to shoot accurately off-hand either.

There is very little recoil which makes it quite easy to stay on target while shooting quickly. The report is also minuscule....which surprised me because I'm used to a compensator making the gun terribly loud....not in this case.

As mentioned in my previous thread the trigger is pretty darn heavy.....but you don't really notice it as long as you're concentrating on controlling it....I would suspect that shooting a benchrest rifle immediately following this rifle will have your trigger finger totally confused!...lol

As also noted previously the rifle is very heavy....you don't really want to spend a lot of time holding this thing up to your shoulder. Another problem with shouldering the weapon is that the butt plate is very slippery. It looks neat but don't count on it to help keep the butt on your shoulder.

Hopefully today's trial run will be indicative of how well the Tommy Gun will function over its lifetime.....A lifetime that will not include another owner until I'm gone!...This will hopefully be a family heirloom......It's that nice!

I am glad to hear that you are still happy with it.

There have been a few (couple of) "special" firearms acquisitions that I made that, after firing them, left me feeling a bit letdown. Most, however (and thank goodness!), have left me with a big smile on my face. :D

She sure is pretty!

Good to hear that your first range session went so well! If it were mine I would be sorely tempted to go the SBR route just to have the "original look" with the shorter barrel.

It looks pretty awkward but I don't mind it......If there's an SBR in my future I'll just buy one of those....This one will stay as is.

But I agree.....the shorter ones look much cooler
