Hello All.

I am in the market for a shot timer.
I will probably end up with the PACT Club Shot Timer 3. While reading about the timers, I ran across terms such as split times and par times. Can someone tell me what they mean ? I was thinking that split times meant the time elapsed between your shots, but I was not sure.

I have used the search function and google but cant find anything solid.

Thanks for the help.

Split time is the time between shots.

Par time is the same as par on a golf course in a sense. If you wanted to set a time limit and have the buzzer sound to start the time, and then sound again after that time limit had passed, that is a par time. Like if I set a 2 second par time the buzzer would sound to start the 2 seconds and then again after the 2 seconds had passed.

But wait, but wait--ya aint done.

Transition time is the time spent between targets.

Split time is the time spent between shots on the same target, and par time is the goals set for any given condition.

That could be a draw with a 1.5 second par time to the first shot, or a Bill Drill with a par time of 2 seconds for the 6th shot out of the holster.

GET THE TIMER. Nothing will improve your performance like a timerin dry fire with par timesset, and at the range in live fire. Just do it.

The "Par time" on a shot timer is the ability to set a pre-determined time frame into the unit.

IE; you set the aforementioned 1.5 second par time. What that means is, it'll beep as usual, but 1.5 seconds later, it'll beep a second time, letting you know if you made the time or not. This is especially useful in dryfire, but also on the range.

I like the CED 7000 timer.

Most of them have 3 start options:

1) "Instant" (when you're timing someone else)

2 "Fixed" (a fixed 3 seconds from pressing the button)

3 "Random" (2-5 seconds from pressing the button.)

Random is the way to go when you're alone.
