Shotgun Barrel/Mag Clamps?

I have a Rem 870 Express 12 gauge that I installed a 3 round mag extension onto.

Is a barrel/mag clamp recommended/necessary?

Depends on who you talk to.

I wouldn't use a +2 or longer extension without a clamp myself - not that the mag extension needs the support, but the threads on the end of the mag tube definitely do. That extension works as a lever, if force is applied to it, and... well, you can figure out the rest.

Nordic Components makes a great clamp. Should be available at Midway USA.

Fred Fuller is spot on. That is the reason I always use a clamp with any mag extension. YMMV. tom.
