The stinger's lamp assy is not set up to handle recoil. You may get 100 shots before it goes out, you might get one.

Shotgun recoil is tough on incandescent lamps. LEDs are better.

But recoil is hard on batteries too. It's possible to get by with 'ordinary' flashlights, but in the long run a specifically designed weaponlight is still the best idea. Look at the options from Streamlight to provide mounting rails for various shotguns. That way the entire light can be removed for daytime practice.

I have a Streamlight TLR-2 laser/light on my pistol grip 12ga shotgun.

I called Streamlight to ask if the light will stand up to punishment.
They said, No problem, that's what it's built for.:)

I believe the Streamlight TLR-1 (light only) sells for about $100.

I have the setup off my 870 for sale as I got an HK M1 Super90 which had a Surefire forend and light on it. I only had about 2 3 gun comps on the shotgun before I sold it and kept the light and mount, which is alomst ldentical to the one shown directly above.

Surefire is worth the money

I have a surefire 6 volt on my Ithaca 37 M&P. They don't advertise it but if you call them they still have NOS (new old stock) of weapon lights for the Ithaca. I have put over 1000 rounds through this with the original lamp. This is one of those areas where you get what you pay for.
