Shots Fired Outside My House Last Night

I'd have told 'em on the second call that they were coming my way and that I was putting down the phone to prepare to defend my family with my firearms. Then I'd have hung up.

Still, this may not have gotten anyone to respond. Just like an emergency room at a hospital, sometimes all the LEOs in the area are already tied up on serious matters.

I live in one of the largest geographical area counties in my state (over 800 square miles) with a population of about 45,000 people. On the highest staffed night, there are only _ deputies on patrol. Yep, fill in the blank (not blanks), for one digit will be the number I chose NOT to publish . . . and the true number ain't one of the higher single digit numbers!!!

Heck, recently one ex-cop on a "crotch-rocket" going about 140MPH, hit a sheriff's car broadside, totalling the squad car after FLIPPING IT OVER . . . and severely injuring one of the _ patrol officers. So, we lost __% of our patrol officers!

Citizens of this fair country would be shocked how FEW members of the thin blue line are actually on patrol in their area. These numbers will never be given out, for tactical reasons. Heck, one county over from here, there's only ONE SINGLE deputy on patrol. The drug dealers use their cell phones to let each other know what part of the county the deputy is in.

Dial 911. I call it "Dial-A-Prayer."

A cop's biggest goal each day . . . is to go home alive . . . and he doesn't have much backup.

If the SHTF at your place tonight, and no one comes, you'd better be ready to deal with the situation the best way you can . . . and legally of course.

T.

BTW, to the original poster . . . I'd recommend you get a very powerful flashlight and, if it happens again, take safe cover and LIGHT 'EM UP!

In the least, you may be able to ID the car and they'll almost surely haul ass soon after you ID 'em!

Oh yeah, also have a 12ga handy full of 000 buck, but topped off with a round of bird shot that's non-lethal but can do a real number on "daddy's" car. If they keep coming, blast tiny holes in a part of the car away from the passengers. This will help with ID'ing the car later.

Surely those troublemakers were putting the lives of many in danger and they may well have shot up a bunch of cars and/or houses. Heck, they may have already shot up 50 homeowner houses . . . with all the 50 calling 911 and waiting for the same two donut cops to arrive.;)
