ATFE, gun laws, crime...

As the late, great American actor, former NRA president C Heston said; "it's not the huge number of gun laws or adding new laws on the books but that lack of enforcement of EXISTING gun laws and weak judges/DAs/etc. that are the source of the US gun crime issue."

Mr Heston was right, the ATFE and other state/local/federal agents need to enforce these rules/gun laws better. FFL holders who are dirty or break the law should face serious time! Gang members and drug kingpins need to get harder sentences too. Some cities/states have made progress but not as fast as they need to go..:cuss:

It is already a violation of federal law to purchase a handgun outside your state of residence, or to transfer a handgun across state line without going through an FFL.

Try enforcing the damn laws on the books and see what happens.:cuss:

Gun laws are just fine the way they are.

No, they're not. Legally preventing people from exercising our Second Amendment civil rights because they've been convicted of misdemeanors, for example, is wrong.

The one law we haven't tried in the United States is the Second Amendment. I say we scrap the rest, try the original firearms law for about 30 years, and pass more laws if they actually prove necessary.

we already have way too many laws against gun ownership...

there is only one we need:
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

anything else that gets passed without amending that law is a violation of the 2nd amendment

Of course I voted "no, they're too strict already". Having a stupid waiting period for people who already own firearms isn't crime prevention, it's harassment. Running NCIC background checks on people with CCWs (which requires background check, a bigger fee, and fingerprints) isn't crime prevention, it's harassment.
