Just went to the local shop and saw a real clean S&W Mod 19-4, blued, .357 Mag with pined barrel and recessed cylinder with a tiny bit of holster wear on the bluing at the tip of the barrel. Bore looked excellent and the gun felt tight except for a little play in the fixed firing pin. The gun had pachmyer grips, but the shop had no history of the gun?? I think it was a 5" barrel, but it may have been a 4", shoulda paid more attention. Looked a little shorter than my 6' K22 Masterpiece

What do you think friends, should I buy it today for $295?

Decent price for an excellent revolver. Don't worry about the firing pin as that's normal (it's suppose to float). The barrel is most likely a 4 incher, but many have been modified.

A model 19 is the next gun on my list to buy and if I found a really clean one at $295 would snap it up.

A Model 19 pinned and recessed, in the condition you describe would be at least &325 here, and wouldn't last a week in the shop. Buy it while you still can. One of the best carry/defence revolvers ever made.

Bought it, but dang it....!!!

Well thanks for the input guys, I went back and bought the Mod 19, and it is really clean.

The only problem was when I got there, they had just taken a .22 caliber Mod 34-1, nickle or hard chrome finish, adjustable sights (kit gun) and that too was going for about $300. So I bought that too (It feels so good in my hand, and I always wanted one)

So I didn't save a lot of money, but I have a big smile on my face :D

Happy New Year and enjoy!!

Yes, I bet a BIG smile!:D Very nice, indeed. Pics???
Congrats on your purchases. A model 19 for that price would be a steal from what I have seen around here.....that is IF and when you can even find one.

I have a 686, 586, and a model 19, i ain't getting rid of any of them and if i ever see another 19 I am gonna pick it up too. The 19 of mine is by far the sweetest revolver I have ever shot! i love it!
