Earlier tonight my family and I attended a country music concert in a public forum in Georgia. It is illegal in Georgia to carry a concealed weapon to such an event even if you have a CCL. When we arrived at our seats I noticed a rather large, not all fat, gentleman sitting in the row in front of us with a haircut that has become typical of police officers in our area, the old buzz cut to shape the head rather square. When he moved I noticed the bulge of a firearm on his right hip under his thin shirt, worn outside the pants. As I have prior law enforcement experience I tagged him as an LEO. About 2 hours into the show, after observing him consume approximately three large beers, he removed his wallet from his left rear pocket and in so doing completely exposed the concealed weapon. Having already tagged him as probable LEO I chose not to say anything to him. It turns out that when the performer did a salute to soilders, firemena and police officers he was very vocally positive in his response so I am sure he was an LEO.
Any suggessions on how to have handled this situation differently. In the entire time we were at the event I saw not one uniformed officer although there were unarmed security officers.
