I've been thinking about selling my Pre-Ban Aug A1. I have a USR and an A3 as well and I prefer the A3. Is there any particulary value in the pre-ban aug or the USR? I was trying to figure out whether there is a legal process for converting the A1 to full-auto or if there's some reason why I would miss it in the future. Otherwise, I'd just as soon sell the A1 and buy another A3. Probably do the same with the USR.

The A1 is a great collector piece. No, there is no legal avenue for converting it to full auto.

Only you can decide if you should sell it. If you really want an answer though, yes, you should sell it to me for $2k.

A friend of mine has an M16 with full auto. The real one, not an AR knock off. It is his most prized and guarded rifle in his collection. Won't even let me shoot it. More of a nostalgic and safe queen weapon than anything else.

You can convert anything to full auto. I'll come visit you in prison. The only exception to the pre-86 law is licensed manufacturers supplying police and military.

Now that the AWB is ancient history, is there any real reason the AUG (I'm assuming a Steyr) is worth a premium over either the A3 or A1 (if any) made after the ban expired)?

If no, I'd sell it to finance something you'd rather have, like the A3 you mentioned. If yes, I'd still consider it, but with the proviso I got what it was worth on the market, not a quick sale to satisfy a new gun jones.
