Should I thread a MAK-91 or not?

No, I don't mean a NHM 91 or MAK 90, I'm talking an actual factual Norinco factory 386 National Match MAK-91. It's got the longer, thicker, heavier, but unthreaded barrel on it, and I like this tapco 5 port M16 style muzzlebreak/flash deflector I had on a crappy WASR-10 I'm getting rid of. I'd actually get a gunsmith to do it right as opposed to possibly botching it on this rare rifle. Also looking at http://www.ironwooddesigns.com/IWDsite/IWDNEWAKMM_2.html for a stock since I have the slant cut receiver and that appears to be the only quality option.

Looking at getting the "FAT” MILLED pistol grip and recoil pad (since rifle won't hold cleaning rod or kit anyway and it'll save me having to buy a buttplate and screws) and the birch laminate stock because I think it's pretty. Looking at having the buttstock made nato length as well.

Never held a rifle using the pistol grip mentioned or many of the hand guard grip styles so I'd like some input on that as well as which ones would/wouldn't look good with the laminate style wood. I'm stuck on the laminate though.

One request, please don't mention 922r in this thread. Already got it covered, so no need for it. Thanks :)

So, to thread or not to thread the barrel, and what stock options to go with?

A flash suppressor/muzzle break is only going to detract from accuracy. You're not going full-auto on this or worried people will see who is shooting at them, I don't see much point. Plus, as you say, they aren't very common.

lol, I'm not shooting at anyone I hope, and definitely no full-auto. Didn't think it would detract from accuracy, but now that you say it, that's a darn good reason to keep it stock. Keeping it stock has its limits though, because the exact reason why I actually got to it at the gun show was because people saw the thumb-hole stock and didn't give it a second look. At the same time some guy was selling a Polytech for $1400, (same quality rifle from same place as this factory 386 Norinco, or so I'm told) and he actually sold it, because he had it in a pistol grip config I guess. It didn't have bayo or any of that other stuff either.

Anyone know about where to get one of the original (or same style) bipod that came with them? Mine had no accessories besides the sling and 5 round mag, so I'm looking to pick all that other stuff up eventually as well.
