Should I upgrade to a better scope?

My hunting buddy used to make fun of my Leupolds. Always said he could spend 1/3rd the money and get just as good of scope. Anything over a couple hundred was wasted.

Then he used mine, then bought a VX-R of his own. He is in the process of upgrading most of his rifles as he can. Looking thru scopes in a show room is one thing. Using them under tough hunting conditions is another

I can't imagine that you'll ever regret your decision. I can't ever remember a time when I've wished that i'd have gotten a cheaper product. I do remember a lot of times when i wish that I'd have gotten something better

But, i don't really understand that attitude. If you want the best, and money is no object, you owe it to yourself to try a Schmidt and Bender, the best glass on the planet. Leupolds are toys by comparison. :D But, fanboys are fanboys, I guess. i knew an old retired German fellow in our gun club, loved his Kleingunthers topped with Schmidt and Benders. One rifle and its glass were worth more'n my whole collection. LOL I do admit, that glass was awesome. If I had that kind of money......

You see, there is good class in the VX1 price range, 2-300 bucks, lots of good glass. It's what you can afford. I personally like Weaver, the new Weaver. My best glass, though, I got on sale and is no longer offered, a Weatherby supreme 3x9. Pretty awesome for 150 bucks I gave for it new.

Get the best you can afford. If that's a Bushnell, so be it. :D If you like Leupold, knock yourself out. They don't make a bad scope, just think they're over-priced due to the name.
