I am looking for a good shoulder holster for a Glock 26 (subcompact, 9mm.)

I know the relative merits and demerits of a shoulder holster, but there are enough times when having one would be advantageous to me that I can justify purchasing one.

I am only looking at leather rigs as nylon ones basically suck. (I am sure some will beg to differ.)

Many rigs do not seem to have an option for the smaller Glocks so I am naturally limited to those that do. I prefer to carry two additional mags and they do not have to be 10 rounders. (I figure by the time I am loading additional mags I might as well be loading in the 17 round ones.)

I do not want to wait for or pay for a custom job at this time.

I have not set a firm budget, but I do not want to pay any more than I have to.

BTW, Has anyone here ever used A "Master's" Brand Shoulder Holster? They are being sold on ebay (item # 120141818223 if you're interested.)

Any advice or recommendations would be very much appreciated.

If you know for sure you will use it, by all means. I have an Aker shoulder rig for my G21 and it's been collecting dust forever. There's just not much occasion where I can keep my jacket on at all times and a shoulder holster doesn't conceal as well as you think.

As for leather rigs, try Aker, Desantis, Galco, or Mitch Rosen. They all make good shoulder rigs and I am sure they all have G26 fitments in stock. Go with a name brand. Holsters are not a place to cheap out. I am sure you know that already because you are staying away from Nylon.

I made that mistake once and bought a nylon shoulder rig and after having bruises from the straps and clips dig into my armpit for a few hours, it went into the trashcan... well... into my friend's trashcan, and he promptly recycled it and is wearing it now because he's too cheap to buy his own rigs. This guy still wears his off-duty belt rig from 1993... nothing wrong with consistency but the belt is grey from the black rubbing off and it's sagging and the holster is on its last legs... so maybe I did him a favor?

Sorry, can't help. I also carry a G26, but up here in wet Washington I opted for a nylon shoulder rig. Leather is tough to maintain in constant precipitation and shoulder rigs have a lot of leather.

Let me know if you open up the choices to include nylon and I can provide details regarding the one I use. I am quite satisfied with it.

Paul,

My research has led me to stay away from nylon, but if you have a recommendation, by all means please share it. Let me ask you a question, does your nylon rig remain comfortable if you wear it all day (10-12 hours)?

PaulBk, I'll listen to your nylon choices :)

I'm interested in a should rig as well, though for a 19 not a 26.

The only nylon rigs that I would consider are the semi-custom ones with a preformed kydex holster attachment made specifically for the gun, not one of those universal adjust the strap via velcro jobbies.

I think Blackhawk has something cool like that, and I love their SERPA belt holster.

I fully agree that leather is superior for most applications. If I lived in the desert I would have a custom leather rig, if only for the BBQ Gun/Cool Factor. Also, the fact that the G-26 is both small and light helps make nylon workable. I might be hesitant to use a nylon rig with heavier pistol.

I use a BagMaster horizontal with the double harness. I am 6'1" and 180lbs, 42 jacket and 32 waist. I have had this rig for a little over 3 years now and have worn it for 8-10 hrs regularly; sitting, driving, running around the soccer field, etc.

With the G26 on one side, the double mag carrier on the other, and tie downs on both, it is as comfortable as this kind of carry can be. No problems with buckles or straps poking and prodding (YMMV, depending on body type).

Shirt holster like the 5.11 or Kramer shirt holster? Doesn't work too well, I have one. Unless you don't sweat too much or you plan on washing your shirt everyday, what are you going to do, buy 7 or them or only carry it that way 1x per week?
