does anyone know where i can get tan front handguard. Its a S&W so the handguard is slim compared to bushys that are fat and id like to keep the slim one

those are perfect. thanks. Im not a big fan of front rails they make the gun pretty heavy but im open to options...

Bushmaster M4, KZ front fore end, Hogue pistol grip, Surefire M961 light, and a Trijicon 3X compact.

how you like the model1 barrels? any idea who actually makes them?

Here's my custom budget/lowrent/ebay/swap/trade/scavenge Bushmaster.

No accessory cost more than $100.

They are pretty good, the price is right, I know they are not top of the line, I also have a 20" stainless bull barrel w/ flat top upper I bought from them, Model1 uses E.R.Shaw barrels. I wouldnt buy a barrel from them if you are wanting sub MOA groups at 100+ yards. they are priced the way they are for a reason. A factory 16" H-Bar Bushmaster barrel will out shoot my 20" stainless bull barrel if that tells you anything. I doubt Ill buy another barrel from them unless im just building a plinker or to save $.

Well I just got back from my buddies gunshop and picked up some OD green things and a cheap bipod as I dont shoot this AR much on the bench but its nice to have one on just in case. so here is the new look. also got a green laser, man are those bright. I shined it on a water tower about 1.25 miles away and it was bright that far away.

Thanks, but I never know what other optic I might buy down the road. Might need that shorter cheek rest.

The two of 'em only cost $20 anyway.

Yeah, I've been told a floating handguard would improve accuracy, but perimeter defense being my purpose, the gun shoots just fine. I just need to practice more at this point.

I shot it in a 30mph wind last weekend, and at 100yds I'm able to put 55grn Prvi FMJ's in a 2"-4" circle. Not good, but getting better.

I think the Bill Springfield trigger job has improved my accuracy more than anything. And for $35 shipped it can't be beat.

Not a great job of photography but this is my favorite AR as far as "Fun to shoot". Bushmaster lower with misc parts upper. Runs like a champ with a 9mm buffer, levang comp and enhanced extractor.

HEY Deepskyy, when did you get that? or did I not know you had more then just Camillia. its really nice. Did you build it? did you see my latest build up there (frankenrifle), the green one. Im about to start on my 3rd, making this next one .308 being thats my favorite round. I have 2 .308s but they arent AR platforms, awesome rifles, but again, they arent Ar platforms, and the AR is my favorite rifle and 308 is my favorite so ill be making MY "gun of guns" I just put a complete AR10 lower on lay-a-way so it wont be to long untill its shootable but not complete.

doc & helz,

I picked up my first AR a while back and like you started cheaply upgrading it. I did finally invest in a high end (high dollar) sight as well. I picked up the four rail hand guard slightly used and found the Magpul grip set the same way. I wanted a light but did not want to have it anchored to the front grip as I also picked up a cheap folding bipod. Here is the final result. If I take the EOTech sight off the gooseneck and mount it directly to the top of the handguard I can perfectly co-witness, but on the gooseneck it is too high.

I really like both of your rifles....I guess I should have put one of my pmags in the picture instead of the bushy mag.

Oh helz,

The .308 is also my favorite rifle caliber. I have a Winchester Pre 64 Model 70 built in 1958 that is my pride & joy and a tack driver. It was rated at 95% original and even has the original Weaver Scope on it. That scope is adjusted via the rings and not the scope itself.
I am going to build an AR10 in the future with a 20 barrel in .308 for hunting/sniping/whatever else comes along.

Your AR is cool but your coffin gun case is WAY cool. Can I ask where you got it? I did a search and found nothing similar online
short of a soft coffin guitar case.

yea I did take out the bottom lining and used a spay adheisive to get it back in over a layer of foam, its easy to screw it up because there are wooden support boards that go across at each end of the support, so be very careful when you are ripping out the support after youve ripped out the lining. you can see the seams where the raised support use to be. be sure and post yours when you make it. Im about to convert my short coffin case for my AR15 16".

Oh, man would I be in trouble if Cammie was a real chick... I wrong named my rifle!!!
DOH!
Katie seems like a good name for the other one I just got. See my other thread for more details!!!

Essence of fail... triple post.
Anyway... does anyone know any tricks to getting the stock handrails off???

My girls!
Cammie, and Katie
Katie is now... custom as I put the stock handgaurds from the MP15 on instead of the DPMS factory gaurds. The MP15 stock setup is much sleeker, and I do believe a bit lighter. Really helps the already great feel and balance of the rifle!
