Show me your Make-Shift rifle

I've whittled the arsenal down to just the good stuff. The only thing still in my safe that would qualify is this project piece:

Sovreign shotgun.jpg

Yup, it's a folding 12 Ga. shotgun. I currently have it fitted with a simple rear peep and ramped front sight for use with a 10" .357 Magnum rifled barrel insert. Combined with subsonic wadcutter ammo, this is very quiet firearm since the last 8" of shotgun barrel acts as an expansion chamber. Ugly, not particularly accurate, but an interesting design project. Haven't shot it in decades.

^^^ I remember when Navy Arms imports of Chinese Type 53 Mosin Carbines with original stocks of disintegrating wood were real cheap. Eventually I bought a Russian M1944 stock set from Numrich and made my own Frankenmosin. The serial numbers don't match because it was assembled from the best parts of 4 different guns. (What counts is that the bolt head is headspaced for the receiver.)

Also have a floor lamp made from an old remington pump 12ga...

AK Hunter:
as long as you usually have 5.45 ammo available, your cool rifle can show other shooters what Character looks like.

At Academy yesterday about four hours after restocking, they had about 10 boxes of 5.45 ammo. FWIW to people new to the -74.

I didn’t think I had anything to contribute to this thread, but then I remembered my first firearm is in a very “makeshift” sort of state these days. It started out as a Mossberg 702 Plinkster when I purchased it brand new in 2008 for the grand sum of $120.

I didn’t realize the picture cut off the end of the barrel, but it’s just a bare muzzle with the factory front sight long gone, unfortunately.

Over the years I ended up “modifying” the cheap plastic stock until it went from a 1 piece thing to the 2 piece front end and stock you see here. The rope sling attaches to regular standard key rings attached to each piece of the stock. Not fancy but strong enough for a 4 pound rifle. The ultimate plan is to make a slightly reconfigurable bull-pup stock for it since that’s the best form factor for a .22lr rifle with an 18” barrel, at least in my opinion. The See-All sight it just about perfect on this although I want a cheap simple magnified option for It ideally.

I guess this is “makeshift”…or “make do”.
This is the featureless California legal AR I built after I moved here with a stripped lower and the Bureau of Firearms told me I needed to build it to register it…so, I did.

When I leave Granola Land in 172 days this “makeshift” gets a “Makeover”.
I realize the rifle is CA legal. I like the look!

I hate to admit it, but it is really nice to shoot with that funky stock.
While it may look like some of the parts were removed from a vacuum cleaner, I really like it. The usual get around of a bat wing attached to the pistol grip is hideous.

High marks for originality and function!

This started out as a Rem 510 mit dirt dobber ate up barrel, I cut off the barrel to 16.5” w/ recessed crown, drilled and tapped for 541 scope mounts, threaded for the Liberty Torch adapter and mounted the 6.5 can on the adapter, then it did not fire, so I had to use a different action and bolt, it turned into a stock stuck on pieces and parts, small critter whacker on the farm. Oh, that is a 3x12 center fire scope. It will take pine cones at 200 yards.
