Such as for the big 80lb plus Breisen that shoots a 2 piece 1750 gr (1/4 lb!) slug.

That trapdoor SC45-70 built is killer! The trapdoor to me is an iconic action and one of my "will have someday" rifles. The other trapdoors are also exemplary.

Pretty amazing guns. I saw my first one at the recent NMLRA shoot in Phoenix this month.
The gentleman next to me on the bench rest range was shooting one and explained the whole process. Incredible long range accuracy from a muzzle loader, he was shooting an 850 grn 2 piece bullet with the same externally adjusted scope mount.

The Gemmer sporterized single shots are very interesting rifles. Most of the originals I have seen used the origianl Springfield barrel. A couple had different locks but only one had an octagon barrel.

Thank you to everyone who posted so far!

Here is another I built

Anybody else care to share theirs?

Wow, those are really cool. Although.... Are those big guns, or small cannons?

Love that buggy like gun.

As far as cannon question, I would say it depends on which end u are on!

I hope this thread go's on a long way. This is an interesting one. I have an M-95 Steyr military rifle that was converted to percussion and I am desperately looking for pictures I took of it so I can show it on here. It's packed away with all my shooting stuff and very hard to get too but when I move and get settled I will shoot it and tell all. My good friend Tim gave it to me along with a nice old .22 bolt rifle. The M-95 shoots about a .310 ball ( oo buck ? ) or a 200+ grain bullet with 100 grains black. I'll hopefully find pictures. If not I will post it when I move for sure :D

Here's another weird Scandinavian: the Jarmann rifle. This was one of the first bolt-action repeating rifles when it was adopted in the early 1880s. Its bottleneck cartridge was loaded with black powder and a paper-patched bullet. It was used by the Norwegian army until the adoption of the Krag-Jorgensen rifle in 1894. The rifle pictured below was used by the Swedish navy.

I did a write-up with lots of pictures on my experiences with the Jarmann in this article: http://www.svartkrutt.net/articles/vis.php?id=47

Very cool Walker, I have seen one in a museum, not like this. The one I saw as an original, D Co. #1 if I remember correctly and was converted into a 44cal shotgun with 30-32" barrel. Cool, cool stuf.

Here is one you won't find at Cabelas. The person I got it from called it a Lemat reproduction probably handmade in the 50's or 60's. It is a heavy brute with a crappy action and if the barrel was ever rifled you can't tell. It could be a muzzle loader. I have never found anything like it online. I love it!

I'd love to see someone make an EBR(evil blackpowder rifle) that is all tacticool and ninja'ed out yet operates in the same way as a normal bp gun. Complete with all the features your average gun control activist is terrified of such as a shoulder thing that goes up. Chances are they'd want to ban said gun if you showed them a pic of it based solely on cosmetic appearance alone.

I really like where this thread is going.

Thank you again to everyone that posted.

Keep them coming!

alienbogey, that is VERY sweet! Well.. all of them in this thread are, but I especially like that Walker.... Want to tell a little more about it? The wood looks brand new, is this your work? I would love to be able to do stuff like this...

Speaking of naval guns, the last French battlecruisers Dunkerque and Stratsbourg had coaxial guns mounted on the sides of their four 330 mm gun turrets. Ditto for the Richelieu and her quad 350 mm gun turrets. Makes practice easier and there's less wear on the big bores.

About as useful as a 22RF conversion for a ten inch naval gun
Which one (or all?) are you referring to?

I think that walker would be pretty useful. Though, I dont see much reason for the forearm other then looks, since one wouldnt want to grip forward of the cylinder. Other then that though, I would use it as a hunting carbine in a heartbeat. Of course, I live in the eastern woodlands and we rarely get shots over 40yrds, but for us here in the heavy eastern bush I think it would be pretty handy.

If the buttstock is easily replaced then you have handgun and carbine on the same platform simply by switching out grips and barrel assembly.

JMHO

I was referring to the EBR. $700 for a "conversion" that is no more useful than a $100 Traditions in-line. A real advance in Technology if ever there was.

Next someone will convert a full auto to a single shot muzzle loader at the mere low price of $3,000.00.

Yes they are unusual and I imagine they will stay that way.
