Where was that taken? Love to have an open range like that!
Looks like they should have made the wall a little taller so everyone could stand upright

That's the mesquite brush of Deep South Texas. My grandfather grew up on that same site, now it's just an old hunting cabin that needs a lot of work.

Only took two photo's. Pops and I went out on Friday (2/20/15) because it's tradition. 3 degrees normal and -25 degrees with the windchill. It was COLD but I figured I'd bring out my old Russian rifle and make her feel at home. He fired off about 20 rounds and went to wait in the truck, I fired off another 150 or so. Heck I was out, dressed for the arctic, and was the only one at the public range we go to so I was going to make the most of it while I could lol.

My sister and her kids and her girlfriend came down from Illinois and brought my brothers son all who I've not seen in years.
We shot my WW1 Colt 1911 my savage 110 .270, my sons Savage .243 I built for him for his first deer season this year, my M&P Shield 9mm my fiance's Walther PK380, and my Maverick 88 12ga. We had a blast. Here's some pics of the fun that ensued.
This was the first time shooting a bigger gun than a .223 and on a cold bore group he managed 3/4in 4 shot group

You mean like the Hatfield and McCoys?

Darn that's what I was expecting too! ;)

I can't seem to find the photos of me shooting with my daughter and the guy she lives with and that guy's daughter. That's the last time I did a family shoot I guess. The girl was 6 at the time. Here's a photo of my wife shooting the Buck Mark I borrowed. She did very well so I bought one to keep her shooting. This photo was the first time I got her shooting with a pistol beside the LCP she wanted for concealed carry. It scared her I think and she hasn't wanted to shoot it again but she's anxious to shoot the Buck Mark. She shot maybe a 3" group at 20-25 yards the day of the photo above. For someone as new to shooting as she was that was pretty darn good.

This was taken a while ago, but when I got my first AR15 when I was ~19 y/o my mom was not pleased - it was an "assault weapon" and "looked scary" (she really did say that). I took her out that weekend to go shoot it and whaddya know, she ended up liking it more than any other centerfire to date!

Here's one of dad shooting groups at 100 yards with my CZ452 and some American Eagle 38gr Cu:

...BTW, both of my parents started out as antis...it took a very persistent teenage son to convert them!

Wow, that's insane lol! I guess when your living in sub tropical deep South Texas those kind of problems just don't come up. Come July we do have to worry about heat exhaustion, mosquitoes the size of hummingbirds, rattlesnakes, and an occasional hurricane, but most all days of the year are shootable.

Here is my 12yr old niece from California shooting her favorite a Springfield trapdoor in 45\70. and my granddaughter with a 54 cal muzzle loader.

Awesome! Blackpowder is so fun because it's so hands on. A great way to get the family involved. Are you using roundball or any specific conicals?

round balls. Just enough powder to hit paper at 50yrds. They hit the ground at about 150. Kids can still keep them on a 8 inch shoot and see at 50.

I can't post pictures with this "smart" phone (yeah, I know, It's me)......we have our annual pumpkin carvin' every year using .22LR handguns.

In short - pumpkins (with masking tape faces) are stationed on the firing line and contestants face their targets from a distance equivalent of their age (8YO stands 8' from the targets for example). Each shooter fires ten rounds at their pumpkin....rotating through all shooters, then another round of ten and so on and so on.

I'll ask if my wife could help me post some pictures....it has become a very anticipated Fall weekend event for everyone.

Some of our shooters come as alias......shooters include "Jilly Bean", "Android", "Cartwheel", and so on.....it's a lot of fun and everyone from 3YO to 65YO enjoys it.

That sounds like loads of fun. And original to boot!

This from our first outing with our 6 year old grand daughter, trained her on safe gun handling in the back yard with a pellet gun and off to the public range with her new .22lr. Of course being a hip and fashionable young lady, she insisted that her shirt and rifle match ;)

It's been a few years since my father-in-law passed away but when he was with us we had a "turkey shoot" every Thanksgiving at the farm. Sons in law, daughters, grandkids male and female and my father in law shot clay pigeons using his thrower out into a field. We'd go through two boxes of clay pigeons before dinner. The adults took turns throwing the clays. I would shoot a few rounds and then shoot pictures. Good times.

Daughter shooting the Barrett .50 cal last summer ... And what can I say? She loves 1911s and SIGs, too ...
