If I end up going on an extended hunting trip (or.. SHTF!!!) I might want/need to clean my rifle/hangun while away from home. Normally I use separate cleaner and lube and am happy with that setup for the "after range" cleanup.

Can anyone recommend a single product (clean/lube) that not only works well but comes packaged in a small, "leak-proof" container?

Is it possible that storing ammo in the same storage box as the cleaner/lube could hurt the ammo if exposed to vapors (over an extended time)?

My goal is to have a small "kit" of ammo and cleaning supplies should I need to prepare quickly. Any ideas???

My choice would be FP-10. While CLP is an excellent lubricant and corrosion inhibitor, I am underwhelmed with it as a cleaner. FP-10 does a better job as a cleaner, lube, and preservative, IMO.

A bonus is that FP-10 smells like cinnamon, while CLP smells like, well, CLP. The cinnamon smell of FP-10 was designed into it so that its odor does not spook game.

Ed's Red would be another good one bottle solution, but is kinda stinky.

That didn't take long! Thanks! I am not surprised really but I feel better with your recommendations. I should be able to find CLP Break Free around here somewhere. - Not sure about FP-10.

After just reading some about them I might just switch completely to one of them if they work as well as they claim. (Finding rust on two guns recently doesn't exactly thrill me about my present lubricant anyway!)

7.62FullMetalJacket, I found a web site for FP-10 but don't know who makes it. (Web site says Muscle Products Corp)

Thanks again! (and my guns thank you too!)

Logistar, I highly recommend the FP-10. It is made by Muscle Products Corporation at the website you mentioned. It is also sold under the Shooters Choice brand (they supply it to Shooters)

I have personally met George at Knob Creek a couple of years ago. He's a great guy to talk to and a shooter as well. He gave away free samples back then on TFL.

I believe Knob Creek stocks it. You can also get it at Galyan's under the Shooters Choice label.

I too received the free sample from George, used that up and bought a 16 oz bottle. FP-10 is great stuff and has replaced BF CLP as my lube of choice. It's a great lube and preservative. If you use it as a bore conditioner (run a patch with FP-10 followed by a dry patch to remove excess) the bore won't foul as much and cleans even easier.

Go to 1911 Forum and do a search using "Firepower" as the user name. Lots of good info.
