SHTF w/a twist? (A bit funny)

If it's just stuff people here would have:

1) 100 or so snipers to concentrate on anyone who goes near a catapult or steers an elephant.

2) 40 or so .50BMG shooters to concentrate on trolls and elephants.

3) 20 or so automatic weapons guys (do we have that many here?) to work on the close-up battering ram Orcs.

4) Everybody else fire at will.

Oh yeah, 5) what size shot do you use in your scattergun for the wraith reptiles?

In my previous post I did say we needed some members to bring their .50's to take care of Trolls and giant elephents!

might be a little more cost effective. Hmmmmm... Use the .50's to pop the oliphant pilots while they are still a long way off so when the oliphants become uncontrolled they mow down their own troops?

Why....Slugs of course, not shot. I mean they are vicous wyrms.

I figure for the witch king of angmar we'll get Tamara and some of the other lovely/deadly ladies of THR to lay down a heavy field of fire to send his hobbit stabbing butt back to his master in bait sized pieces.

I would like a few trebuchet's left behind for us as they make a great delivery system for improvised explosive devices. Think how the troll driven seige towers would react to a few well lobbed explosives. Wow...every discussion boards dream...We'd finally get rid of all the trolls!

I've never seen an orc that took more than one shot of .223 to take it down. Does that count for anything?

10k riflemen, that's one heck of a FPF.

I know about a dozen or so Redlegs and GunMonkeys to run the 155's with help from the SB. I know one, FDC guy and no way in heck is he running GDE on his own, so the big tubes are running preplanned tgts and "AT WILL" missions, with each tube laying in for it's own Cone and preplans.

I think that running with high angle HE/DELAY (need to find Survey and Met guys for accurate HA) a little bit will make some nice big holes for Orcs to get stuck in and then it will really be a varmint shoot when they come popping out.

9mm or .45? Ah, heck bring 'em both.

98/29 mauser and a can stuffed full of turk surplus. As braod as an orc is, shouldn't have any problem hitting one or his neighbor out to 500-600 yards. If stuff gets too close, I have a fine bayonet to work with.

Not even gonna get sucked into this one. I wouldn't bother to show up.

By the time I got there you guys would have already cleaned up. This is just not fair. 16k guys armed with 100's of rounds each, against what was the number? 20k Orcs? Heck if we had 1600 guys show up, each with 100 rounds, shooting at something not shooting back. I'd give you a hit rate of 80% at 300 yards. That means you've got the potential to kill 100,000 give or take. What with that many I'm sure many of you would be taking single goblins with multiple bullets. And with such a huge horde you could very likely shoot into a 30 radius on the horizon and not miss.

Naa, I would predict you guys would shoot the first wave and they would be repealed. But, this would probably mean they would then come under cover of darkness. How many have light amp. or thermal scopes for their rifles?

Also I'm thinking about the flying lizard things. The combination of Big Flying Lizard and wraith are probably your most dangerous opponent. I guess I am wondering, can a bullet kill a wraith? After all they are undead right? Sorry, I HATE Tolkein's work with a passion. So a LOTR geek is going to have to chime in on whether or not a wraith can be killed. If he bleeds you can kill it. But if you can't...I don't like your chances. Heck a sword doesn't run out of bullets. Now if shooting him does not effect him you have to plan on trapping or caging such an opponent...hmm.

This needs some more thought than just guns and bullets. Give up on the planes and the nukes. The logistics of this scenario don't allow for this. It sounds like YOU and what you can carry get transported there. Not you and your favorite vehicle.

Okay, so smart guys. Answer this now. What do you do about the wraiths? And what do you do if they regroup and now attack at night. Or use hit and run tactics?

Uh, Geekster, not quite. Check out post #33, where I mentioned "Ma Deuce" twice and a "quad .50" once.

Oh, BTW, great minds do think alike - the .50 BMG is a well-nigh perfect cartridge for this type of event (though the 30mm GAU-8 round would perform much quicker work on the giant elephant things).
