I own a Navy Arms 45-70, it's built on a siamese action. The guns in solid shape, no major defects, action locks up tight, etc. A buddy of mine is really interested in the gun and I have several 45-70s already.

If I keep it I'm afraid I'm going to mess with it and rebarrel it or do something to it and in end have a pile of parts, lol. He wants to keep it and use it as is.

We're talking about trading for equal value, but I might sell it to him if we can't find something we both want. What's a good price to go off of?

So far he's offered a Ruger 77 mk2 stainless in 270 for trade right now. I have about the same amount of use for it as I do for the 45-70, but it's something different.

We're good friends so no raping on either side, just want it to be a fair deal we can both walk away from happy.

That sounds like a reasonable trade to me.The bottom line is,if you are friends, and both walk away with a smile, its a good trade.

I would place a value of approximately $600 on your rifle depending on how it is set up as far as sights and or scope.

I have the exact same gun as you! Not sure how your stock is but mine has a nice big crack right on the checkering where you put your hand. Anyone know if this is common in these rifles??

Awesome gun!

Trade....

Sounds like a decent trade to me, but the real question is how both of you see it. If you both are happy, then that settles it.
