I would like to reload for my Type 66 Siamese Mauser and I know that both RCBS and CH4D make custom reloading and form dies for the caliber.

Do any of you experience with these dies? Is one manufacturer better than the other? Any pros and cons I should consider?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks, John

I have had several custom dies made for me by RCBS over the years - they are of excellent quality. Mine were in 40-50 Sharps Straight, 40-70 Peabody What Cheer, 360-NE and 8x68S. The 8x68S dies were in their catalog but at a higher than normal price.

Dave at CH-4D would be my choice ... he has been my "go to" source for all my "exocitca". I believe he can and will do things that RCBS never imagined in terms of caliber choices. Example: I have a British P-13 Troop Trials Rifle in .276 Enfield (one of about 2,500 built). Ammo for it, IF YOU CAN FIND IT is a collectible in its own right. I had one round of factory ammo, I sent it to him, he put it on a comparator, developed the first known available set of detailed dimensions for this cartridge. He then built me a set of reform dies (using 8 X 68S RWS Mag brass) and a Full Length die set as well. The result, I'm shooting and reloading for a rifle caliber that's been a dead end since 1914! Does this help?

PS ... He's also made any number of wildcat dies for me over the years ... I'm expecting another delivery from him any day now!
