The ejector in my department-issued Sig 229 DAK is loose and wobbles in the frame. My department's factory certified parts replacers don't know if this is normal or not. I have looked at a half dozen of other officers' guns and their ejectors are all loose too. I have not found one yet that is tight. As far as I know, it is NOT normal for any ejector to ever be loose. I have asked some local Sig shooters about this, and they agree that the ejectors should not be loose. Can somebody shed some light on this once and for all?

SIG and Others

I looked at my 226R's and they too have loose ejectors, so that made me curious about other guns. I also checked my Berretta 96 Brigadier and it is loose to.

After further inspection, you could not tighten them up without serious work, they are held in by a spring pin through a rather large hole. (See photo, please excuse the dirt, haven't got a chance to clean it since last used.)

My SIG's are a .40 S&W and a 9mm. Both are new within the last two years and the .40 has been worked on by SIGs custom shop with no mention of loose parts.

OK then... So what advantage is to be gained by designing it this way? And by that I mean other than cheaper and easier to manufacture.

The ejectors are supposed to have a little wiggle too them. The way they are assembled there is no way they can't be a little loose.

I have no idea why they are made that way.
