I just bought a new Sig 232 380. It came with 2 mags. Both mags will not accept a typical 380 round. Each mag has a indent near the top of the mag and the case gets jammed in the mag.

The good news is I called Sig today and they told me the German Secret Service had these mags made for their ammo and then Sig imported many mags to the USA. These special German rounds will fit these mags but a typical say PMC 380 round found here in the US will jam.

Sig was good on the phone and will send me 2 mags free asap.

Anyone know about this issue??

I have heard of it. I have a P232 that is about a year old. It does not have the crimp but I have heard of folks complaining about jammed rounds due to interleaving of the rim on the cartridges when loading. You must be sure to push the cartridges to rear of the magazines or you can have this problem. I think the crimp is there to keep the rounds sitting perfectly flat on top of each other to prevent feeding problems associated with the aforementioned.

I'm a bit surprised by the story about 'german secret service' stuff etc.. etc.. My mags are made by Mecgar (as I think most all sigs are), and I've never had a single problem with feeding (without the crimp). And I'm not sure how their ammo would be any different than all of the 380 stuff I shoot and have shot through my P232. Perhaps folks here might know more about how/why that is so.

Biggums,
So we know what to watch out for, are you able to post a picture of these odd mags, is the crimp obvious?

That's weird, I picked up a used P232 a few weeks ago, but it was less than a month old. It came with three mags, one of which had the dimples. The first time I (tried) to use it, I couldn't even load it fully.

Don't know what the deal is, because after loading it and unloading the offending mag a few times, it magically worked. It's also not any harder to load now than the others.

Yes, usp9, the dimple is very obvious. I'll post a pic when I get home tonight if someone doesn't beat me to it. Without having the mag in front of me, I'd say it's about 1/8" wide, and 3/16" long. I believe it's designed to ride in the extraction groove of the cartridge.

On my offending mag, it wouldn't let the top most cartridge angle up for feeding.

The bad mag I first tried to get a round in now has the round jammed under the dimples. I can't get the round out using small screw driver, pick etc. I can take a pencil and push the round down to the bottom but letting it go under spring pressure just jams it on the detent which is on both side of the mag.

I think if one could pound the dimples out the mags would work fine.
