SIG 239 need opinions

It depends on which caliber you choose for your 239.

I had a 239 in 9mm that was absolutely, hands down, one of the best handguns I've ever owned. Deadly accurate and it would feed everything I put in it. And unlike its bigger brothers, the finish did not come off after repeated drawings; and the small metal parts didn't rust.

I don't know what, if anything, SIG did differently with the 239. Mine, however, was what I expected a SIG to be. Unlike every one of its bigger brothers.

I've heard less than stellar comments about the .40sw and the .357sig in the 239. My advice is that if you're looking for a small, thin, compact DA/SA 9mm, the 239 is hard to beat.

I have had my P-239 for a few years now, the gun is more accurate than I am..It's stone cold reliable, weighs 25.2 oz empty....I will never sell it,but may be switching to a 1911 in 45ACP for CCW purposes...I am not unhappy at all with the Sig..I just 'feel' better knowing I have 45 fire power if the need arises, hopefully never...If you are looking for a CCW, you will be hard pressed to make a better choice....

stoke it with Speer Gold Dots 124 grain +P

Go for it...

I have one and the thing is a piece of junk...oh wait...sorry...I thought I was talking about something else. I love it. I have fairly large hands and it took me a few times to the range to warm pick up its nuances, but now I shoot it great. I have it in the 9mm style with the DA/SA trigger. I have shot a lot of guns and this is by far one of my favorites.

All that being said, you really have to try one for yourself. Everyone is different and what works for me, might not work for you. Good Luck.

I have to carry a Glock 35 at work...issued. I tried a few of the baby Glocks for an off duty gun. They had horrible ergonomics for my hands and, I'm not going to shove a Glock in my waistband if I need to run out the door. As far as caliber, it was an easy choice. The department has lots of .40 ammo. As a matter of fact, thats the only caliber at the range, so, I like .45...I like .357...I like .41 magnum...but, I wanted a gun in the same caliber as my issue gun so I can practice with it using the department ammo. (pretty simple choice on caliber really, I would feel confident with anything from 9 mm on up, but, more practice with any decent caliber trumps caliber anytime in my book)

Tried a Sig P239 tradtional DA/SA. Shot great, but, I'm not used to two different trigger pulls and I'm damned sure not used to a decocker...Nothing wrong with it at all IF thats what you are used to, but, I'm used to revolvers and Glocks...Point gun, pull trigger. As an aside, I carried a Govt model for about ten years before I had to put it up and carry the issue Glock. That was about 5 years ago and I STILL occassionally swipe the imaginary safety off on my Glock.

I went with the 239 SAS DAK. Very cool gun. Great accuracy, utterly reliable and, easy to carry off duty. If you haven't tried out the DAK trigger, its worth a look. If you are at all a fan of revolvers, its way cool. Long enough trigger pull to be damned safe under stress, no safety or decocker. A flat 8 shot .40 caliber revolver.

Good luck on your quest.

My Brother owns a P220. He loves it.
I shot it once and it seemed pretty nice,
but I still think they're way over priced.
