So SIG now has a subcompact framed version of the P250 out.

If its really as modular as they say it is, I'm thinking it would be fun to get the Subcompact frame and the full size slide.

should look something like this:

... and then after switching the frame to a fullsize, you'd have a nice pistol.:neener:

what would the benefit be in a compact frame and long barrel?

A short gripped pistol is much easier to conceal IWB than a longer gripped pistol. Most manufacturers scale down the entire pistol giving you a shorter barrel (lower velocities) and shorter sight radius (less accuracy).

The longer slide of the full size isn't really significantly harder to conceal than the short slide of the subcompact so this way you get the benefits of both. In essence you get a full size pistol that conceals better.

When I first read about the P250, the modular design hit a receptive note with me.

But then I thought about another modular system that I have: My SLR camera system. Now, I have several boxes of lenses and bodies, which can shoot either film and digital. Before leaving the house for a shoot, though, it seems I need to consult a spread sheet to ensure I have the right combination of lenses, bodies and ammo (uh, I mean film or flash cards) that all work compatibly together for the intended use that day. My wife complains I take too darn long.

OK, it's not a perfect comparison. But if the P250 is as modular as the marketing material suggests, I can envision staring at the gun safe in similar frustration.

That said, one thing I learned from having an SLR camera system, is that you can spend a lot of money adding an awful lot of gear and abilities to your original purchase, but still tell your spouse or significant other that "no, honey, I didn't buy a new camera. This is my old one." This, for some people, may be one of the unheralded advantages of Sig's P250.

I'm sorry, but I just cannot see the SIG P250 as being complicated. Frame, internals, slide, magazine...that's it. Mix and match.

My main problem with the SIG P250 is twofold: 1) it's fuglier than a Glock or XD and 2) the bulky nature of the takedown lever.

UGH...could they make it any worse? Even a Glock looks good compared that that thing. It appears to me that SIG went out of their way to make the polymer look cheap.

Nice pistol

I just picked my 250 compact in 9mm up and took it to the range earlier this week. My son and I both really liked it and shot very well with it. We put about 200 rounds through it with no issues.

I really like my p250 9mm. The thing that sold me was the ability to switch calibers for half as much as a new gun. I really wanted a .357 sig pistol, so I ordered the conversion kit from SigSauer 3 months ago. Was told it would ship in 6 weeks. I checked on the order a few days ago, and was told MAYBE it will ship in the fall. Nice...

I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I like the way the 250 looks. I also like the trigger and the way it feels in my hand. And I don't drink the Sig Koolaid. The only Sig I have is a 1911.

I will admit, it is not the best looking design that has hit the market place in recent years, but it does feel nice to me in the hand. I do not have one yet, and do not know if I will ever own one. The idea is not a bad one though. Especially for those who can or only want to own one handgun. It does have a pretty nice trigger too for what it is.
