I got to hold a 12" barrel .308 Sig 716 AR Pistol with the stabilizing brace tonight at my LGS. Anyone seen these or own one, and what thoughts does anyone have about these .308 Pistols. Price was $1895.00. What shooting distance and accuracy can one expect from a 12" barrel .308 AR pistol and what grain ammo would be best?

Much as I love SBRs, my full sized SIG 716 has about as much recoil as I can enjoy. I can't see how a 12" .308 could be anything but punishing, the SB-15 is a nice loophole but after using one on a 9mm AR I'd not want one on a .308.

Maybe an effective muzzle brake like on the SCAR 17S would make it tolerable, but you'll quickly make enemies of folks on either side of you at the range.

Honestly I do not see the sense in owning a 12" 308. Why up size in cartridge only to neuter it with such a short pipe? If one wants lots of flash and blast I guess it would be a good choice. I own a 16" 308 and the is as short as I would ever go. There are other cartridges that just make so much more sense to me in an SBR. Its not what I'd be spending $1900 on, but to each his own.

Seems like that short of a barrel would put it in the .300 Blackout range which allow for a much lighter set up over the .308.

When I got my HK registered sear, I picked up a PTR-91 pistol (HK clone) and the muzzle blast from the 12" barrel is really offensive ... Not to mention that there is no controlling a shouldered 308 in full auto ... I thought it would be more mild with the shorter barrel, but it really isn't, but its better balanced. So for now, until I figure out if I'm going to sell it or SBR it, its just sitting in the safe as its a hassle to switch the sear just to shoot it in semi ... The one I really like the sear in if the .223 C-93P
