Greetings all, this is a project I am considering but have run into an obvious (a slightly DUH moment) bump in the road.

I have in the past fully blasted and refinished a 1927 Sistema, and I was thinking about doing the same with one of the W.German trade in Sig P6/225 semi's that are out and about these days. Problem with that, the import mark is on the frame, which is alloy, and it is SO ugly:

I'm aware that as per BATF you can't remove the Import mark, but as I did with my 1927 I just did a bit more blasting on it to blend it in so it is less of a screaming loud "HI I'M AN IMPORT MARK" but can be still made out legally.

So I'm trying to brainstorm here, what options are possible for a refinish job, keeping in line with the standard dark/uniform color of the older P225/P6 models, no 2-tones here. Refinish/Reblue on steel is no problem, but of course I have to like a gun with an alloy frame

There are several bake-on finished that work with aluminum. Other than that you are left with anodizing.

Check out Alumahide, Molycoat and duracoat. All are avilabel from Brownells.
