I sold my old gun and was thinking of picking up a Sig. I am thinking of getting the new M11-A1. None of my local guns stores have it, so i'll go the online route/wait it out.

but going to the store I saw the MK25. they are roughly the same price and I read good reviews about the MK25. After reading up on other Sig guns and around online, I am starting to think of first gen kinks. I didnt come across a thread or article with first run problems of MK25. Is it realistic to expect the same out of the M11-A1?

the closest thing to a M11 that i handled is a 229. I wanted y'all's opinion on benefits of a mk25 over a m11. for me, they have the same capacity and the full sized mk25 is slightly longer, making it much harder to conceal when i do. I also like the aesthetics of the m11 better. however i like the rail on the 226. Pretty dead set on a M11 or MK25 from Sig, or else I would just get the 229.

also if I end up paying $1000 from local gun stores, should I start considering HK USP Compacts? I never really grasps the Sig vs. HK. what are all your preferences?

Thanks!

Either of those SIGs will be great though I never heard of any "first generation kinks" relating to a P226. The new M11-A1 looks to be a P229 version which is a very reliable pistol.

As far as SIG or HK they are both very top tier quality products. What do you prefer - poly frame or metal frame? That could weigh into the decision.

The M11-A1 is just a P229 minus the rail, fitted with a Short Reset Trigger and with different markings. Shouldn't have any bugs, there's nothing new about it.

Sig beats HK IMHO.

If I were you, I'd look for either a plain jane P228/P229 or P226.

The M11 is/was basically a P228, and the P229 superseded the P228.

So unless you're just absolutely in love with the fancier M11 and MK25 models, you'll probably save a little money getting the regular versions.

And like Sergei pointed out, they're "new" guns but they're old and proven designs.

i see. okay thanks so much. I'll go with the m11 then. although getting a used regular version would save me a lot of money, i do like the novelty of the special models.

It would be also a reason I would hang onto this gun for a while - don't want to get into a habit of trading guns!
