I really like my SIG P220 for its reliability and its accuracy in other peoples' hands. The problem is that in my hands the P220, H & K and Para-Ordinance pistols are nowhere near as accurate as a 1911. This was proven to me once again this weekend when I shot much tighter groups with ChuckB's new 3" 1911 than I have ever shot with either of my SIG's. Does anyone else have this 'problem' with non-1911 .45's?

"One word: trigger."
Thanks, Sean.
I guess some marriages are just not meant to be. I have talked to Ernest Langdon about trigger jobs, etc., but I am inclined to simply trade in the SIG's on something I know I can shoot, either a 1911 or one of the big Smith's.

What Sean said.

I shoot, minute of barn door with a stock P226. The long (really long) heavy pull just makes it hard to not jerk the trigger.

1911s are my tool of choice.

I assume you are talking about the double action Para. The single action Para is a 1911 with a good trigger and good accuracy. At least that is true of my two Paras.

the LDA is also

a great trigger but it still is not a 1911 trigger but very good anyway, thanks, keith

Thanks for your responses and input.
For the time being I have decided to turn up the squelch on my frustration and switch my carry gun to one I have more confidence with.
BTW, the ParaOrdinance is a LDA.

Ala Dan -

It's not so much the first shot that gets me with DA/SA designs--it the second (or the transition to SA). A lot of times my first (DA) shot is very good (old revolver shooter here), but I'll throw the second shot (subsequent shots or good--occassionally it takes two SA shots to really settle down).
