Sig P220 Recoil Spring Rod Issue?

Occasionally my Sig P220 recoil spring rod protrudes through slide and stays there after putting a round in the chamber, usually when I pull the slide back slowly and ease it forward, the gun has never done this when I sling shot the slide. My 226 has never done this, any idea whats going on here?

IMHO, this is an indication that your babying the slide both, back, but more to the problem, forward, and your round is not fully chambered, thus your guns guide rod is sticking out as the slide has not locked, fully, forward, and is trying to tell you that, is my bet.
