After looking for almost 12 months for any Sig 9mm with the new DAK trigger my dealer told me that one of his distributors had some on their website. Last week I picked it up a P226 DAK with a rail.
First impressions: Feels like a Sig. I know this sounds odd but seeing as how my other 226 is a old Henredon Va. 226 and the DAK was a stainless steel slide with a rail I didn't know if it would feel weird or balance wrong. The only thing missing was the decocker, the cut out is still in the grips. The trigger pull was smooth and consistent. I can't really explain it it was liking taking a wet finger and sliding it across glass. Of course the real test is on the range not dry firing.
Range Session: After taking it home and making sure it was lubed up I returned to the range to try it out. One note none of the 226 9mms came with anything other than 10 round magazines. The first shot was center of the target, that in of itself is nothing big if I do my part that is how my other Sigs shoot. What happend next is interesting. Usually I pull the second shot from a Sig to the side, unless I REALLY concentrate. This range session was on my lunch hour and I was in a hurry so I just lined up the sights and fired the second round. When I looked at the target I couldn't find the second hole, that was until I looked at my first hole. I had to bring the target in to make sure of what I was seeing. I had cloverleafed the second shot. I am very impressed by this pistol and as a matter of fact I have a P229 9mm without a rail on its way. I have always liked the way a Sig felt in my hands but really liked the way a Glock has a consistent trigger pull. Now I feel like I have the best of both worlds. The only thing I don't like about this pistol is that it doesn't have night sights. Does anyone have any suggestions about where to have Trijicons installed on it?
