Hello folks,

I'm looking at purchasing a 380 for concealed carry when i turn 21 in a month and apply for my permit (i love asking my government for permission). Anyone have any experience with the sig p232? This gun is on the short list and probably be the one I end up getting, but wanted to hear what folks have to say about it.

Probably the best .380 pistol ever made.

A little on the heavy side (especially when compared to the new breed of polymer pocket .380s) but still a well made, reliable, accurate little piece.

Get something like a Crossbreed Supertuck for it and it'll carry very nicely.

Sometimes I regret selling the one I had (but I was distracted by something else and just "had to have" the cash :p ).

The 232 has been my every day carry for the last 4 yrs. Easy to shoot well, accurate and reliable. Mine is loaded with Bufflalo Bore 100gr FN @ 281 ft lbs of energy, more than enough if ever needed. For me, it is the best carry gun out there.

I've shot one and I loved it. It's also on my "to buy" list. Just not at the top.

I carried a P232 when my back problems flaired up. The main reason I went to the Sig was because it is so lightweight. At only 17 ounces, it was 10 ounces less than my normal CCW.

I hold the P232 in high regard because it is very reliable, very sleek and concealable, and one of the most naturally pointing pistols I've ever shot. I have both the light alloy frame model as well as the heavier all stainless model.

A world class CCW, IMHO, both sexy and competent.

just like USP9 says....one of the most, if not THE most, naturally pointing pistols out there. My idea of a perfect gun. One drawback might be round capacity but....everyone has their own opinion on that.

The P232 is probably the gun I carry the most. It's thin, lightweight, accurate, and points more naturally than any other gun I have. So it's "only" a .380? Eight rounds on tap oughta do the trick just fine, IMO.

Thanks a lot folks, just the kind of reviews i expected of a sig. Now my only problem is whether to go small and thin with the sig 232, or a little bigger and more capacity with the beretta cheetah. Not a terrible problem to have i admit :D

If you start to go any bigger than a P232, forget .380. Go to at least 9mm, it's cheaper to practice with and it doesn't hurt that it's more powerful.

I carry the Beretta M85FS, as I like the controls better when not carrying my CZ PCR or HK P7 PSP. The Sig is the other fine .380 in this class. Its a good choice.

the cheetah isnt that much bigger...in fact, id say the difference between the two size wise is negligible. the beretta is also a great shooting gun. the prices of the two should be similar....beretta might be slightly cheaper. check out the p230 as well.....same gun really, minor differences.

Ive owned a couple of P230's (still have one) and would recommend them as well.

Heres one of mine in the same holster usp9 shows with his P232....

Got my fiance a 232 this past valentines day. (guns and roses!) It's the stainless model and a bit heavy, but wow! In addition to functioning perfectly this thing is hands down the best "pointing" gun I have ever used. If your going to carry a .380 this is the best option money can buy. You will not regret a p232 or any sig for that matter.

Nice gun

I bought a used police trade in SIG 230 in 9x18 ULTRA. It is the steel framed gun and at 24 ounces is heavier than the 17 ounce alloy model.

Still, it is very easy to shoot for a compact gun and very accurate with a nice trigger and easy to work controls, except for the magazine release which is the slow to operate heel clip.

If weight is a concern, go with the SIG with the alloy frame.

I would seriously compare it to the BERETTA 84 and 85 if you decide to go with the steel frame model. They weigh about the same. The BERETTA has better controls with a push button magazine release and manuel slide release as well as the option of a much larger magazine in the model 84. The BERETTA'S also offer cocked and locked carry if you prefer it.
The SIG'S slide release is the same as the WALTHER PP series and is not manually operable.

Both have good sights and triggers. I have shot the BERETTA'S more often and found them to be absolutely reliable.

I have only shot 115 rounds through the SIG, but it has performed well so far.
