Thanks!

It's weird, I had so many second thoughts at the gun shop, with so much commotion and so many other alternatives I could have with that much money. :(

It really was tough for me to make the decision. :banghead: I love THR but take most of it with a grain of salt, but I have to admit this quickie poll cinched it for me. Nobody had anything negative to say, except maybe I was paying too much (I got 6 months same as cash, so it's not even real money! :neener:).

After getting it home, and spending some "alone" time with it :D I really really think I'm going to love it. I will try to get pics tonight alongside my other two I use for carry.

Thanks to everybody!

The sig 239 is the least over-hiped small gun I have shot. I first experienced it in 40s&w, then in 357sig, and then one day I got to shoot a 9mm P239 in all her glory.

And yes, I bought one (a 9mm) and will buy more the future (357sig with a 40 barrel for cheap practice).

My 239 shoots as accurate for me as my larger sigs and a very accurate hi-power. If I could only have one smallish gun, this would be it, hands down.

What caliber did you get yours in?

The 239 is one of my favorites and you would be very hard pressed to find a more accurate reliable pistol that conceals as well. I agree the Hogue grips are a must even though I hate rubber grips. I carry mine in a Alessi Talon Plus or Sparks SS. Look forward to a report.

Two Thumbs WAY Up!

For the weight and capacity, I say they are over-hyped. Keep searching.

OP here. I agree with the above, on paper. There are better guns if you look at pure specs only. 8+1 of 9mm, and weighs more than poly guns.

However, it carries well, and shoots as well as full-size, full-weight guns. I'm the first to sometimes compromise ease of shooting for ease of carry - my other two carry guns are a Ruger LCP (fantastic gun for what it is, but no joy to shoot), and an M&P340 13.3oz .357 (again, I LOVE it, but you don't plink with it!). Both of these are still in my carry rotation when I want to pocket carry.

My range report on the P239 was delayed, as the gun didn't run right out of the box. :fire: It would feed WWB perfectly, jammed 10% of the time with my carry ammo, Winchester Ranger T-series +Ps. So, I bought it on June 19, sent it back to Sig on June 26. Just got it back last week. I've since put tons of ammo through it (including 150 of that which was choking it before), and it just shoots like a dream (with no failures of any kind).

Before I realized it had to go back, I ordered a Comp-Tac CTAC. That sucked - having the holster but not the gun. Now I've got both together, and I love it. Carries effortlessly & invisibly. I tried putting it in my SmartCarry, and I was less pleased (handle printed). The SmartCarry is a size smaller than Charlie recommends for the 239 (I have it left over from the Glock 26 & 27 I used to have), so maybe if I get the right size it will be better.

I had put the Hogue rubber grips on and shot it, but put the factory grips back on to send it to Sig. Now that I've put a few hundred rounds through it with the factory grips, I'm not sure if I'm going to put the Hogues back on.

It carries like an absolute dream, and I really like how it shoots. That it's accurate should go without saying, but the ergos are just fantastic. I'm a big fan of the trigger and DA/SA action. I'm just as accurate with the first DA pull, probably because I'm so used to the DAO M&P340 j-frame.

As for carry, I feel much more comfortable carrying the Sig compared to the striker fired gun I replaced (short light trigger pull, even with Safe Action). The comparatively longer/heavier first pull is in essence a safety, yet I have the SRT (short reset trigger) for SA follow-up shots. Also, I don't have to fiddle with a true manual safety a la 1911. The difficulty of learning two different trigger pulls is overstated. It feels perfectly natural to me.

I'm not trying to sell anyone else - if you like Glock, for instance, more power to you - they are great guns too. The 239 is a totally different animal, and I love it!

Glad it worked out, I love mine in 9mm. It is such a pleasure to shoot. No hiccups of anykind & it makes me look pretty good at the range. I'm looking for a 40 to keep it company.

Mine's in 357SIG, Hogue grips and all, and it is by far my favorite gun, albeit expensive to feed.

Being a .45 shooter, the recoil of the 239 in .40 caliber is quite managable. The 9mm is easier and cheaper to shoot. The model itself is an excellent firearm. You can't go wrong with a Sig.

Great gun, I carry a 9mm P239 myself. I like the Don Hume JIT slide holster for OWB, it's tight against my body and conceals well. I use a Galco Waistband IWB with it. As far as being only single stack, I feel the added weight and size of the gun makes it much more controllable and easier to hold in my hand. I own several hicap "Wondernines" but since the purpose of CC to me is to "get out of dodge", 8+1 is enough to get me out of dodge. A revolver only holds 5 or 6 and P239 is easier to conceal and shoot so darn nice.

I considered the 239 for my CCW handgun but decided it did not have enough magazine capacity.

I instead settled on the 229.

I have tried the Hogue wood grips for the 229 and they are way too thick for my tastes! I now have Nill Grips installed and the Hogue's measure about 1/4" thicker than the Nill's.

I also found the Hogue rubber grips to "stick" to my concealing garments and not be very stealthy.

You know I've been hearing that on the web for a long time but never really noticed it happen to me ever.

R.O.F.L. only 11+ to 1 for. And the half dozen who voted against haven't all spoke up here.

My only gripe with the Hogues is they push my middle finger up into the trigger gaurd. After a 100rds, me finger hurts.:(:D

I picked up a used 239 9mm w/ 3 mags for 375 OTD and they threw in a box of ammo ang a couple range passes. I love this gun!!! Perhaps a mite heavier than the M&P 9C but seems to fit me better and I find I shoot it better. Just never know until you try them. Now w/ CTC grips, I think I have lost it to the wife. She "just loves" it. Time to go shopping again.

Sigh... I gave $756 +tax for mine (CC package so included Sig paddle holster & mag holder - woohoo!), but I think it was worth every penny. Congrats on such a great deal!

I hate to jinx myself, but I got my CCW license almost a year ago, and I think I finally have myself set on 3 carry guns, each for different circumstances/attire.

Anyone use SmartCarry with their 239? If so, do you remember what size you have?
