which should i get? the sig seems like the obvious choice, but the mags are harder to come by, and lately i am hearing that sig quality isnt what it used to be

the XDm is about $100-$150 more expensive...that is like 4ish extra mags for the sig...

basically i guess im saying, why shouldnt i get the sig over the XDm?

I've owned an XD-9 (not XDm) and have shot a friends' SP2022. Personally, I prefer the Sig. It's also an amazing bargain at under $450 and including night sights. The SP2022 is really one of the, if not the best bargain out there right now, IMO. The Sig fit my hands better than the XD, and I was more accurate with it. FWIW, I parted with my XD reluctantly, and it was 100% reliable. I'd say shoot both and go with what works best for you. You can't go wrong with either.

Ooooo.... It is actually a tough call.

I own both. I love both. I think my XDm-9 is more accurate and they are BOTH equally relaible. Mags and accessories like hoslters, sights, internal parts are far more common for the XDm and the SIG is pretty much left out in those fields.

The Sig Pro (sp2022) is the red headed stepchild of the polymer world. Its a fantastic gun but its often overlooked. The grip is thick, but i like that. the grips are TRULY interchangable and you really notice a different when changed, unlike the XDm

You can't go wrong either way, but i think i would have to give the edge to the XDm because of the popularity behind it.

For the price of the SigPro here at TopGunSupply http://www.topgunsupply.com/sig-sauer-sigpro-2022-9mm-standard-fixed-sights.-da-sa-new-style.html its pretty hard to pass up... $399 for iron sights and $499 for Night Sights.

that price is very very hard to pass up. The XDm locally sells for $550-600. For me that could keep me very happy with the Sig 2022.

I don't know anything about the SIG Pro, but I do have an XDm in 9mm. It's a very nice pistol. I've got over a thousand rounds through mine with zero problems. It's not finicky in the least. Very dependable and very easy to take down. I sent my slide out and had TruGlo sights put on, although the first picture was taken before that was done. Here are the pictures:

I saw your thread about your gun collection. Its 3 high Points.

I would think if someone had an XD, they wouldn't get rid of it for 3 high points.

Assuming you did, Do you own or have owned a Sig 2022? Its not your typical sig ya know. Its not the 226, or 220.... its very different and a lot of Sig owners HATE the sigpro and don't even consider it a true sig.

EDIT--- I take it back, i saw an old thread about you owning an XD....Interesting move.

I have an SP2022, and it's amazing. Feels way better than the XD to me (big hands), perfect balance. And don't pay attention to the internet misinformation spreaders who have never held both in their hands. So many people spread this rumour that "it's not as good as the other sigs" because they've heard it from like-minded internet trashmongerers. It's a fine weapons, and you'll be very pleased. Take it from someone who knows. Unless the guy has shot both, I wouldn't take the whole it's an inferior sig crap.

I dunno about the SP2022 not being considered a Sig. Sure, the take-down is different (perhaps a little more difficult) and the frame is polymer, but it's a DA/SA pistol. If anything, I'd consider the P250 the bastard child of the Sig lineup. DAO trigger is a huge drawback IMO (even if it may be "smooth"). A "modular" gun is good in theory, but a failure in practice IMO. One could easily convert many existing .45 and .40 down to .40 or 9mm with simple mag and conversion barrel swaps. FWIW, I'm unaware of any government agencies that have adopted the P250. Many have adopted the SP2022, P226 and P229. They're proven platforms.

If you like a hammer-fired gun with a decocker, buy the SP2022. If you like a striker-fired gun with a grip safety, buy the XDm.

The standard SP2022 at $399 is probably the best pistol value available in the market today.

When the SigPro was introduced in 1998, most Sig aficionados dismissed it because it had a polymer frame (blasphemy). It was also a full-sized gun introduced during the height of the AWB's limit on magazine capacity and the SigPro suffered as did other full-sized guns introduced during that period. The SigPro was discontinued in the US, to be replaced by the DAO Sig P250. However, the SigPro prospered in Europe, garnering some of the biggest single-contract sales of any gun ... ever. Contract over-runs from Europe were brought to the US and sold like hotcakes and the SigPro was reinstated in the US product line.

The SigPro is a proven design that is over a decade old. The original SigPros had Swiss frames and American slides. The more recent SP2022 models have been all-German guns with triple proof marks, although the very latest guns may have American slides.

Yes, the SigPro is a real Sig. My Swiss-American SigPro 2009 has very high build quality, is as accurate as any Sig I have shot, and has a better trigger than any other Sig I have shot, including my P226ST which cost over twice as much as the SigPro.

Had an XDm .40. Sold it. It was reliable, I just did not shoot it well. I picked up an SP 2022 last week @ Academy for $399.00, added the large grip, and I am thrilled with it. As for quality issues with Sig, I do not see it. The slide is finely finished both inside & out, and the frame actually feels more substantial than any of my other tupperware.

I really prefer a DA/SA trigger, and the Sig's SA pull of around 4lbs is worlds better than my XDm. I also prefer a decocker and a hammer to a striker fired setup.

The SIG pro is a sold performer and it usually has an excellent out of the box trigger pull. It's price with night sights is normally a good deal pending where you shop, and some come with 3 mags. You can also find a completely German made 2022 with a little effort. These have the Ilaflon slide finish that is very durable/rust resistant. They also have a good track record for reliability. Only way I'd even consider the XD was if the SIG just didn't fit you for some reason.
