What can I do to clean up the double action pull on a sig 226? Everything about the gun is great except the sloppy pull in double action. Thanks in advance.

Dry fire. A lot.

IF you feel secure enough to do a detail strip on the Sig, then a polish and buff job will help immensely.

I installed a short trigger and 18lb mainspring (24lb is stock) on mine. The pull is pretty good now, I will continue to dry fire it a lot. I haven't had any light primer strike problems...It's not a carry weapon for me right now anyway. I ordered a 20lb mainspring at the same time as the 18lb one and would use the 20lb one if I decide to carry it for a little extra insurance.

If your not used to it, I'd practice awhile with it before I changed anything. I have 4 SIG's, two P220's and two P230's, and all of them have very good double action triggers, as good or better than some of my S&W revolvers.

They do have a little different feel than some of the others though, and are very similar to HK's rifles in their feel as you pull.

Are you normally a DA shooter, be it revolver or auto? Those who dont normally shoot a handgun this way tend to bitch more about the DA portion of the trigger.

Keep practicing with the Sig the way it is. Make youself a better shooter, don't "cheat" by lightening the pull (putting on flame suit)

I found mine a little hard at first as well but as I have shot it, it has smoothed out a little.

I have become a better shooter because of it. The DA pull teaches awesome trigger control. I can double tap 2 in the X ring now even with my 1st DA shot from 7 yds.

If you don't like the DA pull buy a single action only or cock the hammer back before the 1st shot :neener: (putting on another flame suit)

Just my .02

Sigs own custom shop does trigger jobs, either as a standalone job or as part of an overall maintenance package for fairly reasonably prices. I tried a P226 that had been worked on and was very impressed.
