SIG SAUER - Gives you $200 "CASH For your KLUNKER* Handgun"

Purchase a new SIG SAUER® P220®, P226®, P229®, 1911, SIG556 pistol, or SIG556 rifle from your dealer’s inventory from September 7th through November 30th, 2009, and SIG SAUER will give you $200.00 for your old KLUNKER* pistol or revolver.

To receive your $200.00 payment, simply send your old KLUNKER* with a copy of your form 4473 and proof of purchase of your new Classic pistol (no later than Friday, December 4, 2009) to:

SIG SAUER, Inc., 18 Industrial Drive, Exeter, NH 03833, ATTN: CK-1

Brilliant advertising. The German "K" just puts it over the top. Just wish I had a Klunker I'd be willing to send away for a credit.. :)

Good reason to buy one of those $50 raven/jennings/cobra/davis guns. Turn around and make 300% on your investment. I would do it if they had the new P238 on the list. Got an old H&R around here somewhere.

Buy a Hi Point, trade for SIG, pocket around $70....

I like it!

Also, these must be 9mm or .38 spl or larger.... so your Raven/Lorcin/Davis likely won't be eligible.

Read the fine print. They can reject any gun they want. You pay the shipping which is you are not an FFL will cost you $40+

So really its $160 if they accept your trade in.

Shipping is not $40+, to a manufacturer you can ship USPS Priority ... stick it in a flat rate box for $8.95.

It is brilliant marketing though.

Ya, if you wanna go to jail.

Bottom line: it WILL cost you $40+ to ship back to Sig using FEDEX, unless you are a FFL, in which case USPS is ok.

Yeah, more of a gimmic than anything. Considering you have to turn in a functioning gun (which has 'some' value, maybe $50 or $100 at minimum) and pay for shipping, and the hassle, it works out to be a very modest discount. It would really be best for someone with a POS Jennings or .38 Saturday night special they've got laying around that they have no use for.

Sigs retired or active duty military and law enforcement rebate is better. It's anywhere from $100 to $50.

The only "clunker" I've ever owned WAS a SIG! :neener:

Still, I managed to trade out of it in fair fashion due to Sig's fantastic reputation. I'd have never given it up for $200. :)

Might be a good deal if you're an FFL holder.

For the rest of us it doesn't sound like it's very practical.

My dealer charges $45 per transfer and what if Sig rejects the gun I send them, I suppose I'd be paying the transfer fee a second time to get the gun back.

No thanks Sig, try again:rolleyes:

USPS is only for FFL holders. Citizens cannot ship handguns in the mail. Long guns from private persons can only go to the original manufacturer for repair, etc(this is postal regs...check on it if you don't believe me). Private gun owners can ship any gun by common carrier (UPS, FedEx), and are subject to their rules and guidlines.

I think this is the first rebate Sig has offered to civilians. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Not a bad deal but I would prefer the straight $100 rebate they offer to LE.

Bad deal, money wise.

As a marketing ploy in general, it's great. And it satirizes the anti-gun administration.

I give it a thumbs up despite the fact I'd never try to take advantage of it.

They arent giving $200 away.

Pot-metal guns will be rejected, SIG will probably sell the lot of acceptable klunkers to a liquidator like CDNN to get some of their money back, who will in turn sell them to us for a deal for $259-$459.

I doubt the guns are going to be scrapped like the a good bit of the decent used cars were.

Stand by and watch Sig screw this up and piss off tons of people, just like most if not all of their recent "promotions".

Bought a P220 that came with some "free" SigTac wear, they sent the wrong size vest and then insisted it was MY fault. Jeeze I know what size I wear and what I ordered.

Then there was the "free' knife for online registration...$5 shipping and it wasn't the knife they showed in the ads, it was POS chinese knife I wouldn't have paid 50 cents for...

Can't wait to see the fallout from all the rejected guns..."here is where the emoticon eating popcorn waiting for the show" goes...!

I actually went through the book with a woman at the post office for about 35 mins while she looked for regulation saying a shotgun couldn't be shipped when I asked if it could be. She found nothing. She then called her supervisor who found nothing.
